Citrus flavanones have the potential to alleviate atherosclerosis. The metabolism and anti-atherosclerosis signaling pathways of four citrus (naringin, naringenin, hesperidin, hesperetin) were compared in ApoE-/- mice. Naringin had most potent anti-atherogenic effect, followed by hesperetin with reductions 55.92, 34.98, 42.87, 24.70% atherosclerotic plaque rate control, respectively. Oral naringin mainly existed intestine due high water solubility 7-O-nohesperidoside alleviated atherosclerosis enhancing bile acid synthesis gut microbiota-FXR/FGF15-CYP7A1 pathway. other three liver after absorption from intestine. Hesperidin upregulates ABCA1 1.8-fold enhance cholesterol reverse transport, while aglycones naringenin inhibited via downregulating HMGCR 2.4- 2.3-fold, Hesperetin was more resistant than existence a 4'-methoxyl group relatively weak effects on alleviation tightly related differences their vivo pathways. This provides new insights into anti-atherosclerotic mechanisms food functional guidance for design novel, efficient strategies preventing based flavanones.

Fibrosis is the final common pathology of most chronic diseases as seen in heart, liver, lung, kidney, and skin contributes to nearly half death developed countries. Fibrosis, or scarring, mainly characterized by transdifferentiation fibroblasts into myofibroblasts excessive accumulation extracellular matrix (ECM) secreted myofibroblasts. Despite immense efforts made field organ fibrosis over past decades considerable understanding occurrence development gained, there still lack an effective treatment for fibrotic diseases. Therefore, identifying a new therapeutic strategy against unmet clinical need. Naringenin, flavonoid that occurs naturally citrus fruits, has been found confer wide range pharmacological effects including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer benefits thus potentially exerting preventive curative on numerous In addition, emerging evidence revealed naringenin can prevent pathogenesis vivo vitro via regulation various pathways involved signaling molecules such transforming growth factor-β1/small mother decapentaplegic protein 3 (TGF-β1/Smad3), mitogen-activated kinase (MAPK), phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/protein B (PI3K/Akt), sirtuin1 (SIRT1), nuclear factor-kappa (NF-κB), reactive oxygen species (ROS). Targeting these profibrotic could become novel approach management disorders. this review, we present comprehensive summary antifibrotic roles their underlying mechanisms action. As food derived compound, may serve promising drug candidate

Neurodegenerative diseases are questions that modern therapeutics can still not answer. Great milestones have been achieved regarding liver, heart, skin, kidney and other types of organ transplantations but the greatest drawback is adequate supply these organs. Furthermore, there a few options available in treatment neurodegenerative diseases. With great advances medical science, many health problems faced by humans solved, their quality life improving. Moreover, were incurable past now fully cured. Still, area regenerative medicine, especially concerning neuronal regeneration, its infancy. Presently allopathic drugs, surgical procedures, transplantation, stem cell therapy forms core therapy. However, times, currently used therapies cannot completely cure damaged organs The current review focuses on concepts hurdles path therapy, idea using peptides, cytokines, tissue engineering, genetic advanced polyphenolic phytochemicals to tissues
