Our purpose is to contribute the debate on energy transition by investigating role of social, technical, political, and cultural aspects in stimulating export renewable technologies (RTs). The literature draws attention need complement public policies with a supportive socio-technical regime, even if evidence scarce. We maintain that countries' capability environment-related technologies, concern awareness climate change, understanding its damaging effects are relevant drivers, alongside policies. Moreover, we expect such operating together, amplify stimulus test these arguments through panel vector autoregressive (PVAR) model first differences EU over period 1996–2020. Due heterogeneity across countries, determinants high-performing countries. Results confirm show RTs also stimulated increases share change. Countries' green supported issue.
