Abstract This study constructs an economic growth model that includes natural resource endowments to theoretically explore the paradox of “resource gospel” and curse.” Based on theoretical analysis, influence resources green total factor productivity is analyzed empirically through econometric using Chinese urban panel data from 2010 2019. The analysis shows impact endowment indecisive. empirical results show significantly lessen efficiency, remain robust after addressing for endogeneity issues robustness tests. However, this effect heterogeneous depending city level science education level; example, curse” more pronounced in non‐central cities with average level. Simultaneously, mechanism reduces by inhibiting innovation introducing choices technological progress approach.
