The comprehensive cascade reservoir system is extensively used for flood control and power generation. Traditional scheduling often treats these tasks as competing objectives, prioritizing during the season neglecting generation benefits. This approach, primarily applied to large floods, leads hydraulic resource wastage loss minor moderate floods. lower Jinsha River reservoirs have significant storage capacity, allowing part of capacity be maintaining higher water levels without compromising safety under floods within a 20-year return period. paper proposes an optimal model that considers both reservoirs. Multi-objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MOPSO) algorithm was find non-inferior solution sets. An evaluation index developed select solutions different frequencies, using Minimum Discriminant Information Principle VIKOR model. results indicate scheme 20-year, 10-year, 5-year period can enhance by 1.64, 1.71, 1.35 billion kWh, respectively, compared conventional scheduling. approach supports coordinated scheduling, contributing high-quality development Yangtze Economic Belt.
