CO2-enhanced coalbed methane (CO2-ECBM) technology helps to store CO2 while producing a clean source of energy (CH4) through the sorption process. This technique can sequester much at low temperatures and pressures recovering CH4, which will help offset associated costs, such as capturing injection gases, drilling completion infrastructure, compression, expenses. review paper critically analyzes sequestration potentiality in deep unmineable coal seams. The results revealed that, despite several researchers' insights from proposed concepts, experimental data, modeling simulations, pilot tests, there are no reported full field CO2-ECBM applications for CH4 recovery because implementing projects is uneconomical. Also, effectiveness on seams depend wettability changes CO2–H2O–coal system. identified research gaps challenges this going various researchers shareholders conducting extra investigations toward application simultaneously meet Paris climate summit agreement achieve net zero emissions by 2050 maximum global temperature rise 1.5 °C.
