There is a dichotomy in the understanding of energy poverty between Asia and rest world, especially Global North. While there has been considerable discourse regarding North, particularly emergence affordable cooling, development studies South received less attention. This review article explores within reviewing 23 countries territories South, East, Southeast Asia, using bibliometric analysis to identify emerging discussions researchers. We highlight concepts 'hidden poverty', 'urban 'cooling poverty' outline potential areas for future research that contextualises into more encompassing term, 'energy insecurity,' which consolidates wide gamut energy-related sufferings.
