Renewable gases like biomethane or Synthetic Natural Gas (SNG) can play an important role in short-to mid-term decarbonization of the residential heating sector. By (partially) replacing dominant natural gas, they accomplish two major goals: lowering CO2 emissions and lessening import dependencies. While existing research points to great production potential technical options for producing renewable gases, demand side has largely been neglected. Yet consumer decision making is highly relevant climate change mitigation. Against this backdrop, we conducted a Discrete Choice Experiment with 512 consumers Germany, country high dependency on gas. We decomposed gas tariff into six attributes (share labels, regionality, feedstock, supplier type, price) varying attribute levels. identified knowledge gaps regarding both SNG technologies, which are more pronounced SNG. Results show that mix price key evaluations. Labels feedstock less relevant, regionality type almost neglectable. Biomethane clearly favored over SNG, comes as surprise given past controversy food vs. fuel. Our results call raising awareness standardizing information order improve decision-making.

Clean heating transformation and photovoltaic (PV) promotion gradually have become the keys to realize dual carbon strategy goals. Based on this, combined application of building-integrated PV (BIPV) systems air-source heat pump (ASHP) has received widespread attention. However, current system still presents problems such as mismatching in time between output load. Therefore, this paper, a novel BIPV ASHP coupling is proposed, operation parameters were optimized using low-carbon community an example. A conventional (HP) system, heating, coal-fired employed baseline compared with system. The results show that can improve power local accommodation rate by 43% In terms economic environmental benefits, operating cost 50% Compared annual air pollutant emissions be reduced 92% 57%, respectively. also stability grid operation. demand for capacity improved 62% load balance 29.5%.

The rapid development of the electric vehicle market has greatly stimulated demand for public charging infrastructure (PCI) and made it a pertinent topic to improve its service quality in industry. Data from perceived preference, PCI vehicles cannot reflect factors influencing potential users’ anxiety. This study designed evaluation framework investigate impact economic, technological, market, policy, social environmental on perspective users. We collected dataset including 386 users Tianjin, China, employed structural equation model survey implementation PCI. following conclusions were drawn this study: 1) Reducing operating costs will not significantly increase user use efficiency users; 2) Technical directly promote but reverse lag market; 3) growing is main impetus industry, incentive policy environment can indirectly incentivize development. implications suggest that industry experience sustainable by continuously innovating market-oriented business models, improving systems mechanisms. provides analytical foundation decision support policymakers participants, promotes vehicle-related industries, helps achieve strategic goal carbon neutrality.

Abstract Background The residential heating sector in many European countries requires a fundamental transformation if it is to become climate neutral. Besides the introduction of efficiency measures and updating systems, scholars practitioners consider replacing fossil fuels existing systems viable approach. Drop-in renewable gases such as biomethane synthetic natural gas (SNG) cause considerably fewer carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) emissions than can be used boilers, dominant system countries. To move ongoing debate around e-fuels forward, this study reports on Discrete Choice Experiment with 512 respondents Germany that analyzed consumer preferences willingness pay (WTP) for SNG. I build these insights by comparing WTP production costs, making evidence-based decision-making possible. Results results show consumers prefer over gas. Comparing two types gases, SNG biomethane, reveals clearly favor latter despite criticism has come under last 10–15 years. Consumers surprisingly high increasing shares SNG, premia 40 almost 70% gas-based tariff. costs only tariffs small (5% 10%) offered at cost-covering prices. Conclusions Given urgent need transition sector, marketers policymakers should carefully whether worth channeling rather unknown expensive product like into voluntary market gas, especially already established cheaper more popular alternative.
