Paper packaging made with recycled paperboard is used to pack various consumer goods that can include amongst others, electronics, toys, food, cosmetics, and stationery. Chemical profiling of the paper recycling grades in manufacture was undertaken investigate possible sources contaminants their propagation chain. Pre-consumer, retail post-consumer paper-based materials were collected at papermills, corrugators, grocery stores, household waste, solid waste disposal sites facilities. In GC-MS analysis, phthalates, long-chain aliphatic compounds, fatty acids most commonly detected compounds whilst phthalates bisphenols featured prevalently LC-MS analysis.
