Decomposition of submerged plants releases organic matter, nitrogen, and phosphorus into water bodies, generating an important impact on the aquatic ecosystem. This study explored influence growth substrate with different compositions decomposition process eelgrass (Vallisneria spinulosa Yan, V. Yan). The sediment + iron–carbon fillers system exhibited significantly lower concentrations total nitrogen (TN) (TP) in overlying than other systems, maximum values 5.68 7.05 mg/L, respectively. addition ceramic calcium nitrate promoted formation HCl-extracted (HCl–P) sediment, while increased content NaOH-extracted (NaOH–P). Three-dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy dissolved matter (DOM) showed that did not affect released during Yan. microbial community abundance each experimental group changed before after higher enrichment functional bacteria related to denitrification sulfate reduction. In contrast, a smaller change abundance, aerobic denitrifying bacteria. this paper, it was found had good adsorption effect purification as plants.

Healthy aquatic ecosystems are essential for human beings. However, anthropogenic activities severely worsen water quality. In this study, using assembling mesocosms, we developed an efficient and easy-to-handle method to monitor the quality by measuring electrical conductivity (EC) of water. Our data demonstrate that growth two submersed macrophytes, Vallisneria natans spinulosa, improves decreasing EC. Furthermore, high-throughput DNA sequencing, analyzed microbial community abundance structure in sediment columns with or without plant growth. We generated 33,775 amplicon sequence variants from 69 samples four groups (BkM, CtM, VnR, VsR) three column sample (CtW, VnW, VsW). The results show relative bacteria was higher than column. Moreover, diversity composition microbiomes were altered spp. growth, α-diversity communities decreased due macrophytes both columns. β-diversity also varied significantly

Freshwater biodiversity has been declining in urban areas, which may threaten ecosystem functions. Although many studies have demonstrated a positive correlation between and functioning (BEF) terrestrial marine ecosystems, little is known about the BEF relationship freshwater environments, especially highly urbanized regions where water pollution major concern. Eutrophication bodies trigger algae blooms, decreasing evenness or functional divergence (FDiv) of phytoplankton communities, thus negatively affecting functioning. Through an annual field investigation, we clarified diversity functioning, represented as resource use efficiency (RUE), river northern China. Results indicated that community contributes most to driving compared environmental factors. The relative abundance dominant Bacillariophyta was positively correlated with (RUEpp) but zooplankton (RUEzp). Both were linked RUEpp RUEzp. Our findings suggest reduction seriously its potential mechanism can provide crucial reference for quality protection sustainable utilization basin.

Submerged macrophytes play a crucial role in lake ecosystems, and their survival is dependent upon ability to cope with variable environmental stress. Therefore, studying the plastic response of submerged macrophytes' resource allocation functional traits environment may provide insights helpful for ecological restoration practices. In September 2021, field survey was conducted Erhai Lake, where samples Ottelia acuminata, biomass relation water depth were measured. The study found that O. acuminata exhibited large intraspecific variations adapt stress, average variation 55.86%. current environment, this suggested optimal growth moderate (1–2 m). results allometric analysis showed responded synergistic effect leaf area shoot height. shallow water, mainly used growth, while deep increase height This research will us useful information protection endemic endangered macrophyte.
