Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), also known as "forever chemicals" received significant attention during recent years due to their environmental persistence emerging evidence on toxicity humans. In this work we present the first measurements of PFASs in inhalable fraction airborne particles PM2.5 (particulate matter that has a diameter ≤2.5 μm) Brazil collected Covid restriction period. Three included perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS), restricted by Stockholm convention perfluorooctanoic (PFOA), 6:2 fluorotelomer sulfonate (6:2 FTS) were detected at concentrations up 0.3 pg/m3. These values do not include uncertainties associated with potential adsorption gas phase filters but may be lower than those generally occurring Curitiba, an abrupt reduction industrial activities major decrease use transport lockdown. Although current air quality regulations set limits for PFAS, there is concern these can accumulate human body. The detection FTS samples cause its atmosphere could have health effects comparable PFOA PFOS. Multiple pollution sources PFAS Curitiba considered based airmass trajectories wind roses. Our results raise question whether observed PFOS linked sulfluramid, pesticide permitted Brazil.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), often referred to as "forever chemicals", are a class of man-made, extremely stable chemicals, which widely used in industrial commercial applications. Exposure some PFAS is now known be detrimental human health. By virtue long residence times, they detected the environment, including remote locations such Arctics, where origin poorly understood. It has been suggested that may transported through contaminated waters, leading accumulation coastal areas, can aerosolised via sea spray, thereby extending their geographical distribution far beyond original source regions. The aim this work investigate, for first time, whether chemicals" could areas considered pristine, from sites. This study was performed at Amazonian Tall Tower Observatory (ATTO), unique site situated middle Amazon rainforest, restricted PFAS, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), observed with concentrations reaching up 2 pg/m3. A clear trend increasing concentration sampling height air masses south over Manaus had highest concentrations. Atmospheric lifetime estimations, removal mechanisms supported by measurements two heights (320 42 m above rainforest), spikes indicated long-range transport PFOA pristine rainforest. Federal, state, tribal, or local entities in the United States issue fish consumption advisories (FCAs) as guidance for safer of locally caught containing contaminants. Fish have been developed commonly detected compounds such mercury and polychlorinated biphenyls. The existing national does not specifically address unique challenges associated with bioaccumulation risk related to per- polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). As a result, several states derived their own PFAS-related guidelines, many which focus on one frequently PFAS, known perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS). However, there can be significant variation between tissue concentrations trigger (TCs) PFOS that support individual state-issued FCAs. Moreover, regulatory measures addressing VMS levels sparse, research on in PCPs is limited. Therefore this study, 141 from Korea, one the biggest PCP markets world, were extracted analyzed for seven VMSs using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Overall, cyclic (cVMS) compounds found at higher concentrations than linear (lVMS) compounds, accounting more 93% total concentration. highest was observed octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4) hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane (D3), approximately 130,000 110,000 μg·g
