Spent coffee grounds (SCGs) have great potential as a useful, value-added biological material. In this context, activated carbon (AC) was prepared from SCGs by an activation process using H3PO4 at 600 °C in the air and used adsorbent for azo dye AO7, model molecule colorants found textile industry effluents. X-ray diffraction, SEM BET revealed that AC predominantly amorphous, consisting of powder 20–100 µm particles with mesopores averaging 5.5 nm pore size. Adsorption kinetics followed pseudo-second-order law, while Langmuir best fitted experimental isotherm data (maximum capacity 119.5 mg AO7 per g). The thermodynamic parameters adsorption endothermic spontaneous. All characterizations indicated occurred physisorption via mainly π–π interactions. removal efficiency optimized means Box–Behnken design response surface methodology 98% initial concentration 20 mg·L−1 pH 7.5 dose 0.285 g·L−1 contact time 40 min. The tremendous increase in agro-industrial waste poses major environmental problems and highlights the need for innovative, sustainable solutions. One promising solution would be converting these organic wastes, such as unvalued pineapple peels (ANA) brewer's grains (ECB), into activated carbons to meet impending challenge of wastewater treatment. In particular, Acid Orange 7 (AO7) is one most widely used synthetic dyes, a significant portion which ends up water, posing health with limiting decentralized cost-effective To address two challenges, we investigated best conditions wastes alternative (named CA-ANA CA-ECB) AO7 dye removal under representative adsorption conditions. Extensive characterization (SEM, EDX, XRD, BET) revealed an amorphous, mesoporous structure specific surface areas 1150-1630 m2 g-1, outperforming majority other biomass-derived reported removal. Adsorption followed pseudo-second-order kinetics Langmuir isotherm, record efficiencies 90-99% concentrations 25-35 mg L-1 batch reactor, driving forces being electrostatic attraction, π-π interactions, hydrogen bonding. These results undoubtedly highlight potential current waste-derived solutions efficient

Abstract Objectives To evaluate the in vitro and vivo antimicrobial activity of pleuromutilin derivatives modified with C14 side-chain against Streptococcus suis. Methods determine minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) 268 modifications S. suis ATCC 43 765 using broth dilution method. Derivative B43, B49, B52, B53 B54, which exhibited better activity, were selected for further investigation their antibacterial effect, cytotoxicity, effect. Results Determination five clinical strains (n = 37), as well growth time-killing curves. Those experiments showed that all had good vitro. Resistance-inducing assays demonstrated that, except similar abilities to induce resistance tiamulin. In addition, did not have erythrocyte haemolytic toxicity (0.25–16 mg/L) cytotoxicity (1.25–80 mg/L). mouse thigh infection model, derivative B49 superior efficacy. About 40 mg/kg improved survival rate mice by 33.3% peritonitis model. Molecular docking study scanning electron microscopy revealed can effectively bind active site 50S ribosome disrupt cell membranes. Conclusions A total 68.66% potent Among them, effects suis, indicating be intensively studied an candidate compound.
