At present, microplastics have attracted much concern worldwide, but still few researches focused especially on aquaculture fishponds. In this study, investigations were conducted in Zhijiang (ZJ) and Yidu (YD) areas of Hubei, China, typical freshwater bases the middle lower reaches Yangtze River, occurrence distribution characteristics fishpond system. It was found that presented all samples from water, sediment, fish, fish feed. Most detected had a diameter <1.0 mm, blue black most common colors, fiber shape dominant type. The polymer types polyethylene (PE) polypropylene (PP). Microplastic abundance correlated with sediment water. potential ecological risk index values indicated under moderate pollution risk. results study illustrated situation cultured systems, findings here will serve as reference for future environmental risks environment.

Marine microplastic pollution just as ocean acidification and greenhouse effect has attracted much environmental concern become a hot research subject for marine researchers globally. The abundances, distribution, characteristics of microplastics in surface seawater sediments from Dapeng Cove were investigated this study. results indicated that the abundance was 1333 ± 773 items/m 3 1381 1021 items/kg sediments, showing medium level compared with other sea areas. Fibers prevailing shapes both representing 65.4% 52.1% total numbers, respectively. Moreover, small (<1mm) accounted 69.6% 62.2%, According to identification by Fourier Transform Infrared microscope (micro-FTIR), main composition polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP). It is necessary enhance regulation current plastic products used aquaculture, reduce production release during mariculture process, develop alternatives fishing gear. study suggested long-term development had caused accumulation large amount water Cove. We constructed first basic data about This will serve reference further studies distribution migration zones.
