Contaminant monitoring in agroecosystems is increasingly revealing overlooked molecules, particularly within complex pesticide mixtures. This study assessed the effectiveness of chemical and ecotoxicological methods for evaluating contamination biological responses Gammarus roeseli exposed to pesticides transformation products (TPs) lentic small water bodies (LSWBs) near agricultural zones. We examined 7 LSWBs, finding variable levels shaped by watershed composition differences. Analysis 136 compounds identified key TPs, including chlorothalonil R471811, metazachlor ESA, OXA, which collectively represented 86.2 % total quantified contaminants. These results underscore persistence both current banned ponds studied. While G. showed favorable survival rates, significant reductions locomotion ventilation were observed at heavily contaminated sites, with biochemical analyses suggesting neurotoxic effects activation detoxification mechanisms response Multivariate revealed site-specific variations, highlighting interactions between environmental conditions. Biomarker gammarids served as sensitive indicators residual toxicity frequent associations historical or applications. situ caging approach across a gradient demonstrates strong potential biomonitoring assessments agroecosystems. Extending exposure durations more could further enhance risk evaluation, thereby improving accuracy headwater aquatic ecosystems. By integrating conditions, profiles, responses, this provides valuable insights into influence practices on LSWBs underscores critical need incorporate TPs future assessment frameworks.

The discharge of textile wastewater (TWW) into the environment releases multiple toxic substances that pose a significant threat to aquatic life. Most studies evaluating treatment efficiency focus on removal parameters, such as chemical oxygen demand (COD), total organic carbon (TOC), dissolved (DOC), biochemical (BOD), and colour. One processes has presented high efficiencies in TWW is use biochar (BC) an adsorbing material. BC shown ability remove complex from water since it able decrease content COD, TOC, DOC. However, toxicity treated effluents not been widely studied. In this regard, essential only treatments removing matter but also their reduce WW toxicity. This research evaluates acute real with Pinus patula by using Daphnia pulex sentinel species. For purpose, D. individuals were exposed BC-treated for 48 h, mortality defined absence movement limbs antennas. It was found although P. 120 min eliminated 72.8% initial DOC under optimal conditions (pH 3 13.5 g/L dose), effluent remained toxic, inducing 85.7% 71.4% rates 100% (v/v) 50% dilutions. Despite increase survival rate due protective effect achieved constituents contained reconstituted samples, these findings emphasize necessity conducting before considering after having treated.

Fish are exposed to increased water temperatures and aquatic pollutants, including endocrine-disrupting compounds (EDCs). Although each stressor can disturb fish liver metabolism independently, combined effects may exist. To unveil the molecular mechanisms behind of EDCs temperature, cell lines potential models needing better characterisation. Accordingly, we rainbow trout RTL-W1 cells (72 h), at 18 °C 21 °C, ethynylestradiol (EE2), levonorgestrel (LNG), a mixture both hormones (MIX) 10 µM. The gene expression selection targets related detoxification (CYP1A, CYP3A27, GST, UGT, CAT, MRP2), estrogen exposure (ERα, VtgA), lipid (FAS, FABP1, FATP1), temperature stress (HSP70b) was analysed by RT-qPCR. GST higher after LNG than °C. further enhanced while MIX expressions CYP3A27 MRP2. In contrast, FAS only in MIX, compared control. ERα, VtgA, CYP1A, HSP70b, FATP1 were not influenced or tested EDCs. model unresponsive EE2 alone, sensitive (in pathway genes), mainly insensitive range but had specific interactions.

In this study, the total content of REEs ranged from 1.32 to 67.74 μg/kg, with a predominant presence light REEs. The ΔEu and ΔCe values, which exceeded approached 1, respectively, indicated positive Eu anomalies low Ce anomalies. Wild fish were categorized into high-, medium-, low-REEs-bioaccumulation groups using cluster analysis. Higher LRs/HRs coupled lower in high-bioaccumulation group suggested that increased bioaccumulation mitigated fractionation. Omnivorous higher levels broader feeding sources may enhance REE diminish Elevated concentrations demersal highlighted preferential accumulation benthic environment. Smaller but likely associated complex sources. Regression analysis revealed lengths weights less than 18 cm 130 g, more susceptible bioaccumulation. Despite ADI values indicating greater risk for children Pelteobagrus fulvidraco, all within 70 μg/(kg·d) consumption poses no risk. This study confirmed fractionation can be used trace their bioconversion.
