Microplastics (MPs) are regarded as a global issue due to their toxicity effects on fish and humans. Fish is vital origin of human protein, which necessary for body growth. Contamination by MPs major hazard that requires special focus. After exposure alone or in combination with other pollutants, may experience variety health issues. can cause tissue damage, oxidative stress, changes immune-related gene expression well antioxidant status fish. being exposed MPs, suffer from neurotoxicity, growth retardation, behavioral abnormalities. The consequences poorly understood. Due the abundance environment, occur via consumption, inhalation, skin contact. Humans cytotoxicity, immune system disruption, transfer tissues after them. toxic both still unknown. This detailed review has potential add existing knowledge about ecotoxicity humans, will be useful forthcoming study.

High bioavailability of microplastics (MPs) in the marine environment has raised serious concern during last few decades. Nevertheless, trophic transfer MPs within edible parts food webs remain unknown. In this study, bioaccumulation, biomagnification, and potential human intake muscles gills five popular commercial species (3 fish, 1 crab, prawn) from Persian Gulf were investigated. The surface structure characteristics material elemental composition signatures used to screen for likely rule out non-plastics. Among studied species, Penaeus semisulcatus Epinephelus coioides displayed highest (mean 0.360 items/g muscle) lowest 0.158 level their muscles, respectively. number extracted was higher than muscle analyzed especially when it comes scavengers filter feeders such as (Liza klunzingeri, Portunus armatus, P. semisulcatus). The results magnification factor (TMF) biomagnification (BMF) calculation indicated that not biomagnified web Gulf. Hence, contrary previous belief, dilution occurs rather seafood. assessment highlights possible risks posed by seafood consumption population depending a great extent on diet. Considering physical chemical toxicity associated contaminants, routine high doses should be controlled vulnerable groups pregnant/lactating women children ensure safety.
