Abstract In this study, the cost‐effective and environmentally friendly green synthesis of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanostructures is reported using Crataegus orientalis fruit extract with (GS) hydrothermal‐assisted (HTGS) methods. The optical, structural, morphological characteristics synthesized ZnO are examined by UV–vis Spectroscopy (UV–vis), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE‐SEM) supported energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDX). XRD patterns confirmed that have a hexagonal single phase. average crystallite size optical bandgap values obtained as 31 27 nm, 2.8 3.02 eV, for GS‐ZnO HTGS‐ZnO nanostructures, respectively. used catalyst in photodegradation methylene blue (MB) dye show excellent degradation activity 99% after 120 min UV illumination. addition, it found higher antibacterial effect against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 than chemical Moreover, since both methods similar results, GS method, which lower cost, simpler, less time‐consuming HTGS technique, can be recommended to synthesize .
