Abstract The advancing global urbanization puts great pressure on the society and ecosystem, especially in developing countries. Reasonable land‐use policies adapted to local conditions are key issues prevent disordered urban expansion. Multi‐scenario simulation provides a new perspective for differentiated policy formulation based regional heterogeneity. Regarding Shaanxi Province, rapid urbanized area with high spatial heterogeneity western China, as study case, we tracked its past changes predicted characteristics of expansion using Future Urban‐Regional Environment Simulation model. We found that (1) during 35 years, built‐up land evidently increased accompanied by loss cropland, grassland, unused land. (2) mainly will occur areas flat terrain under three scenarios. (3) transit into “requiring from mountains” pattern future, which means it gradually spread higher slopes. (4) Differentiated optimal development patterns proposed different subregions accounting ecosystem service procedure This research can help governments formulate future macro control territorial planning optimize subregional development.

The lab-based focused on developing understanding natural world, as well processes scientists use that world. Through action research, data collection methods included Views Questionnaire (VNOS-B) and analysis students' reflections assignments open inquiry projects for 37 students. Pre- post-questionnaires were analyzed using NVIvo12, categorizing responses five levels NOS thematically. Descriptive statistics used assess views. Class reflective coded evaluated revised NSI rubric employing a mixed analysis. results reveal notable shift following intervention which demonstrates significance deliberate instruction. research also pinpoints areas where students require instruction, offering valuable insights educators with emphasis integration enhancing literacy highlighting role refining instructional practices.
