Triclosan (TCS), a lipophilic broad-spectrum biocide is widely used in personal care, acrylic, veterinary, medical and household products. It has been observed to be present aquatic environments, animal plant tissues around the world, even human blood, urine breast milk. Under natural conditions, TCS degrades photolytically as well through microbial action into more persistent toxic byproducts like dioxins. Moreover, accumulation deep water bodies or soil strata where light not adequately available makes its degradation prolonged. Present review undertaken with an objective highlight concerns surrounding exposure organisms, infiltration routes food chain, persistence accumulation, teratogenic, biochemical cytogenic effects on wide range of species. The widespread use products containing potential toxicity at lethal concentrations it compound utmost concern worldwide hence under permissible levels, proper disposal needs regulated.

Triclosan (TCS), a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent, has been widely used in personal care products, medical plastic cutting boards, and food storage containers. Colgate Total® toothpaste, containing 10 mM TCS, is effective controlling biofilm formation maintaining gingival health. Given its broad usage, TCS present ubiquitously the environment. strong lipophilicity accumulation ability organisms, it potentially harmful to biohealth. Several reports suggest toxicity of this compound, which inserted class endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs). In September 2016, was banned by U.S. Food Drug Administration (FDA) European Union soap products. Despite these problems, application products within certain limits still allowed. Today, unclear whether truly toxic mammals adverse effects continuous, long-term, low concentration exposure remain unknown. Since the 2000 s, pearl oyster Pinctada imbricata (Röding, 1798) has become established along transitional waterways of "Capo Peloro Lagoon" natural reserve, where it is now abundant due to its adaptability different hydrological, climatic, environmental, and pollution conditions. This study aims evaluate haemocyte immune-mediated responses in vitro quaternium-15, a common pollutant aquatic ecosystems. Cell viability phagocytosis activity decreased when exposed 0.1 or 1 mg L- quaternium-15. Moreover, decreasing was confirmed by gene expression modulation actin, involved cytoskeleton rearrangement. Effects on oxidative stress-related genes were also assessed (Cat, MnSod, Zn/CuSod, GPx). The qPCR data revealed alterations antioxidant through dose- time-dependent modulation. presents insights into physiological cellular mechanisms P. haemocytes environmental stressors, indicating that this species useful as novel bioindicator for future toxicological studies.

Diazinon exposures have been linked to the onset of toxic pathways and adverse outcomes in aquatic species, but ecological implications on model species are not widely emphasized. The objective this study was determine how organophosphate pesticide diazinon affected hematological (hemoglobin, total red blood count, white mean corpuscular hemoglobin), growth (condition factor, hepatosomatic index, specific rate), biochemical (total serum glucose, protein), endocrine (growth hormone, tri-iodothyronine, thyroxine) parameters Clarias batrachus after chronic exposure. administered at predefined exposure doses (0.64 1.28 mg/L) monitored 15, 30, 45 days into investigation. Observation for most biomarkers revealed patterns decreasing values with increasing toxicant concentration duration. Correlation analysis highlighted a significant inverse relationship between variables (mean hemoglobin, condition rate, thyroxine, protein) elevated concentrations. integrated indices (IBR BRI) indexes were used provide visual understandable depictions toxicity effects emphasized relativity terms sensitivity magnitude or severity responses under graded exposures. damage reflected by evaluated groups compared control portends risks health local fish populations, including systems adjacent agrarian landscapes.
