Abstract Although traditional petroleum‐based packaging materials pose environmental problems, biodegradable have attracted extensive attention from research and industry for their environmentally friendly properties. Bio‐based films, as an alternative to demonstrate significant advantages in terms of friendliness resource sustainability. This paper provides insight into the development biomass food films such cellulose, starch, chitosan, gelatine, including properties, methods preparation (e.g., solution casting, extrusion blow molding, layer‐by‐layer assembly, electrostatic spinning), applications packaging. Through these methods, analyzes how properties can be effectively tuned optimized meet specific needs. It was found that film not only possess functional antimicrobial, preservation, indication, but also continued material innovation technological improvements offer promising prospects use commercial applications. These advances could help advance global sustainable goals, while showing great potential improving safety extending shelf life. Future will further explore new functions providing additional solutions protection

In recent years, the increase in generation of agro-food processing waste, coupled with uncontrolled disposal and inefficient recovery methods, has raised concerns among society, industries, research community. This issue is compounded by accumulation conventional synthetic packaging. Owing to their significant environmental economic impacts, development sustainable, biocompatible, biodegradable materials become an urgent target. this context, efforts have been directed toward developing new packaging based on renewable sources, such as contributing circular economy concept. However, despite advances, novel agro-food-waste-based solutions still largely remain at a laboratory scale. situation highlights need for further understanding thorough investigation into how upscale these products, thereby promoting engagement, investment, awareness across various fields. review aims discuss current advances food using waste. It covers main wastes by-products currently recovered sustainable systems through approaches, extraction valuable compounds or waste treatments incorporation materials, techniques valorization, applications films coatings. also addresses toxicological safety challenges, future perspectives. After extensive review, we conclude that faces challenges transitioning findings commercial scale, primarily due factors, high production costs, performance deficits, legislative ambiguities, lack consumer awareness, inadequate governmental regulations. Consequently, investments appear be mandatory coming aiming optimized, safe, cost-effective solutions.

The recent millennium has witnessed a notable shift in consumer focus towards natural products for addressing lifestyle-related disorders, driven by their safety and cost-effectiveness. Nutraceuticals functional foods play an imperative role meeting nutritional needs offering medicinal benefits. With increased scientific knowledge awareness, the significance of healthy lifestyle, including diet, reducing disease risk is widely acknowledged, facilitating access to diverse safer diet longevity. Plant-based rich phytochemicals are increasingly popular effectively utilized management. Agricultural waste from plant-based being recognized as valuable source nutraceuticals dietary interventions. Citrus peels, known flavonoids, emerging promising health-promoting ingredient. Globally, citrus production yields approximately 15 million tons by-products annually, highlighting substantial potential utilizing phyto-therapeutic nutraceutical applications. peels with concentrations ranging 2.5 5.5 g/100 g dry weight, depending on variety. most abundant flavonoids peel include hesperidin naringin, well essential oils monoterpenes like limonene. extracts exhibit high antioxidant capacity, DPPH radical scavenging activities 70 90%, comparable synthetic antioxidants BHA BHT. Additionally, present have been found properties, which can help reduce oxidative stress 30% cardiovascular 25%. Potent anti-inflammatory effects also demonstrated, inflammatory markers such IL-6 TNF-α up 40% cell culture studies. These findings highlight diet-based therapies.
