Abstract Ecological footprint (EFP) measures the amount of area, that is land or sea, which required to absorb waste generated through human activities support production resources consumed by populations. EFP index therefore includes six dimensions are cropland, forestland, carbon, fishing grounds, grazing land, and built-up area. Human have impacted environment, leading global warming, widespread droughts, diseases. The present study aims investigate role renewable energy (RE) efficiency on index. Past researchers widely used carbon emission (CE) represent environmental impact, recent studies shown a better proxy degradation. Therefore, research differs from past in it compares how determinants degradation affects CE. Panel dataset OECD countries 1990 2020 employed. CS-ARDL, DCCEMG, AMG techniques, overcome dynamics, heterogeneity, cross-sectional dependence, main findings depict RE significantly reduces CE, while economic growth exacerbates them. Energy but does not affect EFP. Non-renewable & development increase an insignificant positive effect observed with This paper shows factors influence CE may always Thus, reduce fundamental understand each dimension influenced.

Abstract An increase in the combustion of fossil fuels as a means generating energy has resulted adverse ecological ramifications. Therefore, to achieve environmental sustainability goals, it is essential focus on reducing carbon emissions by conserving natural resources and adopting low‐carbon technologies. Renewable electricity generation, advancement environment‐related technologies, widespread adoption these technologies have potential reduce drive shift towards more sustainable future. Nevertheless, impact initiatives European Union (EU) promoting solutions still ambiguous. this paper aims explore how renewable development diffusion limit CO 2 emission 14 selected EU countries. To goal, our study span covered period 1990–2019 employed Panel Vector Autoregressive (PVAR) based impulse function capture responses . The empirical results reveal that positively influenced economic growth consumption. findings indicate negative impacts levels, implying they could mitigate levels above suggest countries should invest R&D, diffusion, implementation climate‐related technological advances generation. Policymakers take action develop market‐based regulatory measures, cut fuel subsidies, boost climate change advances. attain lower dioxide emissions, crucial implement such policies.

Several researchers have studied the environmental policy stringency and ecological innovation regarding CO2 emissions renewable energy consumption; however, impact of stringency, technological innovation, FDI, on transition has not been in case NICs. For this purpose, panel quantile regression models are applied context NICs from 2000 to 2021. Our empirical results show that effect foreign direct investment is positive statistically significant transition. On other hand variables eco-innovation, ICT-trade an inverse Therefore, findings study also provide implications indicate need optimize their trade structure re-innovate latest spillovers, strict policies should be introduced facilitate
