Background Student dropout has been a key issue facing universities for many years. The COVID-19 pandemic was expected to exacerbate these trends; however, international literature produced conflicting findings. Limited from Africa investigated the impact of on student trends, despite documented devastation, including increased risk food insecurity and mental distress, caused by pandemic. Objective This work seeks understand distress during Methods Using cross-sectional research design, first-year undergraduate students large South African university were recruited via email participate in survey between September October 2020. Household Food Insecurity Access Scale (HFIAS) used measure Patient Health Questionnaire Anxiety Depression (PHQ-ADS) distress. Multivariate regression investigate factors associated with dropout. Results rate 10.5% (95% CI: 8.2-13.2). prevalence severe 25.7% 22.3-29.4) symptoms 26.7% 23.3-30.4). Dropout rates levels highest among residing remote areas lockdown at 19.2% 43.6%, respectively. multivariate logistic revealed that being male probability almost three-fold (odds ratio (OR) = 2.70; 95% 1.48-4.89, p =0.001)). Abstract Background Engineering students experience high levels of distress and low rates mental health treatment seeking, yet there is a gap in knowledge around how this compares with that other fields study. Given the influence social identity (e.g., gender identity, race/ethnicity) on it important to account for sociodemographic variation across when performing such comparisons. Purpose This study used Andersen's Behavioral Model compare use between engineering while controlling factors. Methods Survey data came from 2021–2022 Healthy Minds Study ( N > 50,000). Measures related health, use, diagnosis were examined. Descriptive statistics determined each field study, regression analyses assess differences accounting covariates. Results Compared fields, among least likely report symptoms depression anxiety. However, 44.4% undergraduate screened positive current and/or Of those who positive, only 40.4% had received therapy/counseling past year. Further, they have or anxiety compared fields. Conclusion When factors, reported lower highlights need considering culture interpretation student treatment.

Background. Students often face high levels of mental distress, which can adversely affect their academic performance and overall wellbeing. While forest bathing, as a nature-based solution (NBS), has recognized benefits for wellbeing, its specific impact on undergraduate students remains understudied. Purpose. This research brief aims to present the insights lessons learned from pilot study utilizing five-step bathing protocol applied higher education students. Method. A semester-long intervention was conducted in natural urban parks São José dos Campos, Paulo, Brazil. Thirty-six newly enrolled university participated three NBS sessions, with data collected before after each using Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale. The interventions were spaced approximately one month apart. For paired comparison between repeated measurements, one-tailed tests used based Student’s t-test, significance set at p < 0.05. Results: had significant substantial effects reducing anxiety (48.4%, dCohen = 0.415), depression (35.4%, 0.431), stress (33.5%, 0.479) participants, particularly visiting degree naturalness. Insights Lessons Learned. highlighted critical role naturalness effectiveness interventions. Parks more elements provided greater reductions supporting theories such attention restoration theory. Abstract The growing number of suicide cases in India's top engineering institutions indicates a mental health emergency. Deteriorated status students has been major concern for social scientists, policymakers, educationists, and parents. Nevertheless, not much academic research addressed this issue. current study aims to explore the anteceding factors associated with crises among students. This relies on sequential exploratory mixed‐method design. In first phase, 16 undergraduate were interviewed that deteriorate their status. Based qualitative findings, we developed hypothesized model. second model is tested through quantitative ( N = 395). Inductive thematic analysis interviews revealed students' (stress guilt‐related symptoms) was (a) centrality identity, (b) parental pressure, (c) stress during coaching period college years, (d) upward comparison, (e) motivation‐related (intrinsic motivation, extrinsic amotivation). finding, connects amotivation, intrinsic/extrinsic stress, results indicated amotivation significantly mediates relationship between Moreover, male score higher lower motivation‐identified than female concludes key issue determining deteriorated undergraduates.
