In the last decade, both cellulose and alginate polysaccharides have been extensively utilized for synthesis of biocompatible hydrogels because their alluring characteristics like low cost, biodegradability, hydrophilicity, ease availability non-toxicity. The presence abundant hydrophilic functional groups (like carboxyl hydroxyl) on surface or derivatives makes these materials promising candidates preparation with appealing structures characteristics, leading to growing research in water treatment biomedical fields. These two are typically blended together improve hydrogels' desired qualities (mechanical strength, adsorption properties, cellulose/alginate yield). So, keeping view extensive applicability, present review article, recent advances development cellulose/nanocellulose-alginate-based relevance (adsorption dyes, heavy metals, etc.) field (wound healing, tissue engineering, drug delivery) has reviewed.
