Abstract Herbs applicability in disease treatment has been verified through experiences over thousands of years. The understanding herb–disease associations (HDAs) is yet far from complete due to the complicated mechanism inherent multi-target and multi-component (MTMC) botanical therapeutics. Most existing prediction models fail incorporate MTMC mechanism. To overcome this problem, we propose a novel dual-channel hypergraph convolutional network, namely HGHDA, for HDA prediction. Technically, HGHDA first adopts an autoencoder project components target protein onto low-dimensional latent space so as obtain their embeddings by preserving similarity characteristics original feature spaces. model high-order relations between herbs components, design channel encode that describes patterns herb-component via convolution. other also established same way diseases proteins. drugs are then aggregated our network results with scoring function. evaluate performance series extensive experiments have conducted on two benchmark datasets, demonstrate superiority state-of-the-art algorithms proposed Besides, case study Chuan Xiong Astragalus membranaceus strong indicator verify effectiveness seven eight out top 10 predicted Chuan-Xiong Astragalus-membranaceus, respectively, reported literature.

Background: Sleep is vital for maintaining the health of organism. Chronic sleep deprivation (CSD) a key contributor to significant risks, including induction gastrointestinal disorders. However, mechanism CSD caused intestinal damage remains unclear. Methods: Drosophila melanogaster as an in vivo model was used investigate CSD-induced injury, well ameliorative effect caffeic acid. Results: resulted reduced survival and severely affected homeostasis flies, evidenced by disruption acid-base homeostasis, increased feeding, permeability shortened length. Meanwhile, expressions immune deficiency (IMD) pathway-related genes PGRP-SB1, Dpt, AttA, AttB Mtk were significantly up-regulated intestine flies. On other hand, Caffeic acid supplementation restored intake, while improving barrier length, effectively reducing damage. In addition, administration decreased AttA flies gut. Discussion: These results suggested that could disrupt gut adult overactivating IMD pathway, has obvious protective role on homeostasis.
