Chitosan, poly[β-(1–4)-linked-2-amino-2-deoxy-d-glucose], is a polysaccharide with broad applications in various biomaterial and biomedical fields, primarily because of its nontoxicity. Because the biodegradable biopolymer chitosan can be catalyzed by alkaline partial deacetylation chitin shrimp crab shells, degree crucial for proper application. However, antiviral properties deacetylated combination other compounds remain unclear. We used plaque assay to examine activity against human influenza A virus (H1N1) parainfluenza type 3 (HPIV3) when supplemented grapefruit seed extract (GSE). demonstrated that reduced H1N1- HPIV3-induced formation Madin–Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells. Chitosan also decreased viral RNA expression HPIV3-infected A549 Furthermore, analysis cells revealed prevented virus-induced p38 MAPK activation mitochondrial fragmentation. These findings indicate GSE may promising viruses.

Food supplements are used for a variety of purposes, one which is weight reduction. As excess long-term condition, some expected to be long periods time. The use these dietary makes it highly likely that they will combined with medications, increasing the risk food supplement–drug interactions, not always known or disclosed, and can lead serious health problems, as has been observed. This article discusses compounds reduction (green tea extract, Garcinia cambogia, chitosan, quercetin resveratrol) interactions may cause drugs such as: dextromethorphan, buspirone, diclofenac, irinotecan, 5-fluorouracil, cytochrome P450 inducers inhibitors, statins, orlistat, warfarina, acenocoumarol, fluoxetine, valproate, quetiapine, carbamazepine. information useful healthcare professionals detect intervene on ensure optimization therapy patient safety.

Abstract Nutrients provide vital functions in the body for sustained health, which have been shown to be related incidence, prevention and treatment of disease. However, limited bioavailability, loss targeting specificity increased hepatic metabolism limit utilization nutrients. In this review, we highlight transdermal absorption nutrients, represents an opportunity allow great use many nutrients with promising human health benefits. Moreover, describe how various types permeation enhancers are increasingly exploited nutrient delivery. Chemical penetration enhancers, carrier systems physical techniques delivery described, a focus on combinatorial approaches. Although there currently development, some tools advanced clinical trials, relatively few products achieved full translation practice. Challenges further developments these discussed here review. This review will useful researchers interested applications efficient providing reference supporting need take more account specific nutritional needs states.

Biodegradable mulching films are a very attractive solution to agronomical practices intended achieve more successful crop results. And, in this context, the employment of agricultural and industrial food residues as starting material for their production is an alternative with economic environmental advantages. This work reports preparation bilayer having two different wettability characteristics from three bio-derived biopolymers: TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanofibers isolated infused Yerba Mate residues, Chitosan Polylactic acid. The oxidized nanofibers, were characterized. Nanofibrillation yield, optical transmittance, cationic demand, carboxyl content, intrinsic viscosity, degree polymerization, specific surface area length studied (ligno)cellulose nanofibers. Textural chemical analysis, thermal mechanical properties studies, well water light interactions included characterization films. promising materials be used
