Concerns about the safety of traditional preservatives in personal care products are driving interest toward self-preserving alternatives. This study explores potential B. stenostachya leaf extracts, a natural and biodegradable material, for use cosmetics. stenostachya, fast-growing bamboo species native to Taiwan, is rich bioactive compounds, including flavonoids with antimicrobial properties. Leaves were obtained from Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) Tainan, extracted using ultrasonic Soxhlet methods water, 50% ethanol, 95% ethanol. The highest yield was achieved ethanol at 100 °C. Cytotoxicity evaluated NIH/3T3 mouse fibroblast cell line, no toxicity observed dilutions between 1/3200 1/400, indicating extract’s cosmetic use. Antimicrobial activity tested accordance ISO 11930:2019 standards. extract effectively inhibited Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus pathogens, meeting preservative efficacy Standards A B long-term microbial control.
