Abstract This study explores the synthesis and characterization of novel hydrogels derived from cellulose extracted Apocynum venetum leaves, combined with chitosan, further modified into magnetic varying strengths. The hydrogels—cellulose-based (CH), chitosan-based (QH), variants (MC, MQ)—were characterized using SEM, FTIR, XRD, VSM techniques. Adsorption tests were conducted to evaluate their efficiency in removing contaminants, specifically CR dye Cu ions. Results indicated that CH exhibited a remarkable adsorption capacity due porous structure, while QH demonstrated superior removal, attributed strong chelation amine groups. Magnetic hydrogels, particularly MQ, showed enhanced capabilities, benefiting increased surface roughness additional active sites. These findings suggest synthesized especially variants, offer significant advantages over traditional adsorbents, highlighting potential for practical applications wastewater treatment. research contributes development efficient, sustainable solutions environmental remediation.
