Globally, energy demand and environmental pollution affect the development of society. However, solar fuel generation via photocatalytic water-splitting became most viable approach to address global crisis. Cadmium sulfide is considered an ideal material for (hydrogen) due its promising, low-cost, suitable bandgap energy, desired band alignment, affordability, simple preparation method. solar-to-hydrogen (STH) conversion efficiency CdS-based materials still needs improve high rate photogenerated electron-hole pair recombination photocorrosion, resulting in poor performance. Herein, emerging enhancing stability activity CdS discussed, including designing heterostructure, co-catalyst loading, etc., with a focus on charge carrier separation transfer. Particular attention given mechanism that influences water-splitting. This review focuses developing strategy anti-photocorrosion generation. Notably, H2 production improvements achieved studying as main photocatalyst, not co-catalyst, were exclusively reviewed discussed.
