Abstract Retinol and retinyl palmitate, with excellent whitening antioxidant activities, are widely used as essential functional ingredients in transdermal preparations skincare products. Herein, for the first time, influence underlying mechanisms of retinol palmitate on skin penetration caffeine investigated. It is found that very significantly enhanced by 2.83 2.57 folds, respectively. Mechanistic studies showed they can disrupt lipids intercellular orderly arrangement reduce content orthorhombic lattices skin, making loose barrier function decreased. Furthermore, due to formation chemical bonds keratin, have a strong affinity changing dense secondary structure keratin reduced effect. This study provides new evidence potential novel enhancers high safety possess great application delivery pharmaceutical cosmetic active substances.

In this study, the classification, composition, preparation methods, and performance parameters of deep eutectic solvents (DESs) their recent applications in natural product extraction, drug delivery systems, trace metal determination, nanomaterial synthesis, electrochemistry are systematically summarised through literature decades, using DESs as keywords. The hydrogen bond acceptors (HBA) mainly quaternary ammonium salts (e.g., choline chloride) or amphoteric ions betaine); donors (HBD) mostly compounds such urea, polyols, sugars. Their melting points related to bonding, polarities higher than most ionic liquids, viscosities generally range 0.01–5 Pa·s. Compared with traditional organic conventional have solubility, ability dissolve oxides insoluble drugs, good biodegradability. high extraction rates flavonoids phenols, can increase solubility effectively extract perform pre-concentration metals synthesise new nanomaterial, be used electrolytes for electrochemical reactions electrochemistry. This paper collates relevant on physicochemical properties multi-field DESs, which provides a deeper understanding looks forward future development

Topical drug delivery in skin diseases provides a non-invasive, direct application of treatments to the affected area and avoids systemic toxicity. Quercetin is natural polyphenol with documented activity alleviate symptoms many diseases. The objective this study was prepare assess physicochemical properties hydrogels made sodium alginate (SA) cellulose derivatives (methyl (MC) carboxymethyl (CMC)), containing different concentrations quercetin (0.4 0.7%). evaluation obtained included organoleptic evaluation, texture analysis, spreadability, rheological properties, pH, stability. Among prepared formulations, MC-based gels had highest viscosity, adhesiveness, cohesiveness, stickiness. results indicate that were superior CMC- or SA-based their ability effectively deliver porcine ex vivo. amount retained after preparations higher 2.04-fold for CMC-based 2.6-fold hydrogels.

Transdermal delivery of sparingly soluble drugs is challenging due to their low solubility and poor permeability. Deep eutectic solvent (DES)/or ionic liquid (IL)-mediated nanocarriers are attracting increasing attention. However, most them require the addition auxiliary materials (such as surfactants or organic solvents) maintain stability formulations, which may cause skin irritation potential toxicity.
