Camelina neglecta is a new diploid Brassicaceae species, which has great research value because of its close relationship with the hexaploid oilseed crop sativa. Here, we report chromosome-level assembly C. total length 210 Mb. By adopting PacBio sequencing and Hi-C technology, genome was assembled into 6 chromosomes scaffold N50 29.62 undergone whole-genome triplication (γ) shared among eudicots two duplications (α β) by crucifers, but it not specific duplication event. synteny analysis between sativa, successfully used method calculating Ks to distinguish three subgenomes sativa determined that closest first subgenome (SG1) Further, transcriptomic revealed key genes associated seed oil biosynthesis transcriptional regulation, including SAD, FAD2, FAD3, FAE1, ABI3, WRI1 FUS3 displaying high expression levels in seeds. The representability as model species for Camelina-based biotechnology been demonstrated time. In particular, floral Agrobacterium tumefaciens infiltration-based transformation neglecta, leading overexpression CvLPAT2, CpDGAT1 CvFatB1 transgenes, medium-chain fatty acid accumulation oil. This study provides an important genomic resource establishes research.

Abstract Background Tubulins play crucial roles in numerous fundamental processes of plant development. In flowering plants, tubulins are grouped into α-, β- and γ-subfamilies, while α- β-tubulins possess a large isotype diversity gene number variations among different species. This circumstance leads to insufficient recognition orthologous isotypes significantly complicates extrapolation obtained experimental results, brings difficulties for the identification particular tubulin function. The aim this research is identify characterize an emerging biofuel crop Camelina sativa . Results We report comprehensive characterization family C. , including analyses exon-intron organization, duplicated genes comparison, proper designation, phylogenetic analysis, expression patterns tissues. 17 34 6 γ-tubulin were identified assigned isotype. Recognition was cross-referred, involving data phylogeny, synteny allocation on reconstructed genomic blocks Ancestral Crucifer Karyotype. An investigation homeologs revealed predominant role N (A) 7 (B) subgenomes at various developmental stages, contrarily general dominance transcripts H (C) subgenome. Conclusions For first time complete set members characterized allohexaploid study demonstrates approach precise inferring orthology. applied technique allowed not only identifying orthologs model Arabidopsis species tracking evolution, but also uncovered that A. thaliana missing several β-tubulins.

Camelina or false flax ( sativa ) is an emerging oilseed crop and a feedstock for biofuel production. This species believed to originate from Western Asian Eastern European regions, where the center of diversity genus located. Cultivated arose via series polyploidization events, serving as bottlenecks narrowing genetic species. The paucity C. foreseen most crucial limitation successful breeding improvement this crop. A potential solution challenge could be gene introgression wild resynthesized allohexaploid . However, both approaches would require complete comprehension evolutionary trajectories that led origin. Although there are some studies discussing origin evolution hexaploid species, final conclusions have not been made yet. Here, we propose integrated model based on recently described findings, which enables efficient interspecific hybridization with its relatives. We also discuss issues intergeneric hybridization, aimed improving overcoming proposed comprehensive indicates newly neglecta has key role in tetra- hexaploids, all two -based subgenomes. This study aimed to analyze the physicochemical properties and nutritional quality of oil extracted from camelina seed genotypes NS Zlatka Slatka, grown in Serbia, using both Soxhlet extraction with n-hexane cold-pressing technique. Extraction technique did not have an effect on yield. Camelina oils exhibited satisfactory characteristics, which were influenced by methods. The rich polyunsaturated fatty acids, α-linolenic acid being most abundant. They characterized a balanced ω-6 ω-3 ratio (0.5), low atherogenicity index thrombogenicity values, relatively high hypocholesterolemic/hypercholesterolemic ratio. Cold-pressed contained significantly higher amounts α- γ-tocopherols showed greater oxidative stability at moderate temperatures, as confirmed Schaal oven test. Despite this, their decreased elevated temperatures (Rancimat test) compared solvent-extracted oils. Conversely, had levels β-carotene superior resistance high-temperature conditions. Due its unique properties, health-promoting attributes, cold-pressed presents significant potential for application food, nutraceutical, feed, cosmetic industries.

However, microcarpa (as currently understood) genetically non-uniform and morphologically variable species that consists of several distinct ribotypes cytotypes varying ploidy levels. Little-pod false diversity remains understudied in Ukraine, despite country one hotspots this species. Therefore, present study we aimed clarify distribution patterns various infraspecific forms based on collections National Herbarium Ukraine (KW). Because that, issue its proper taxonomic application was important for nomenclatural stability taxa belonging to C. sativa–C. microcarpa aggregate containing oilseed biofuel crop sativa wild relatives progenitors. lectotypified here with specimen P00652666 from Tournefort Herbarium (Herbarium Tournefortianum No. 1634) P, following direct reference protologue. Judging morphological characters lectotype, taxonomically, it represents a morphotype sensu lato, probably most closely matching caucasica (C. var. caucasica) viewpoint. Contrary recent listing synonymy (!) several main biodiversity databases (such as GBIF, POWO, etc.), we conclude that definitely not conspecific microcarpa. conservation latter against earlier unnecessary, well possible proposal reject armeniaca. We prefer treat synonym sativa. A corrected typification (lectotypification epitypification) also provided.
