The environmental challenges posed by plastic pollution have prompted the exploration of eco-friendly alternatives to disposable packaging and utensils. Paper-based materials, derived from renewable resources such as wood pulp, non-wood pulp (bamboo straw reed etc.), recycled paper fibers, are distinguished their recyclability biodegradability, making them promising substitutes in field food packaging. Despite merits, like porosity, hydrophilicity, limited barrier properties, a lack functionality restricted potential. To address these constraints, researchers introduced antimicrobial agents, hydrophobic substances, other functional components improve both physical properties. Essential oils (EOs) have promising applications as natural and environmentally friendly antimicrobial agents. Preparation of EOs into emulsions can improve the properties EOs. The aim this study was to investigate mechanism underlying antibacterial effects Zanthoxylum bungeanum pericarp essential oil (ZBEO) against Staphylococcus aureus , Escherichia coli Bacillus cereus Shigella boydii determine effect nanoemulsions on activity. ZBEO efficiently suppressed foodborne pathogenic bacteria, determined by minimum inhibitory concentration survival rate. Based analyses bacterial morphology, degree leakage proteins nucleic acids, lactate dehydrogenase activity, we found that disrupted integrity permeability cell membranes, resulting in cellular contents apoptotic death. Prepared nanoemulsion (ZBEO-NE) had good dispersion stability. Both ZBEO-NE inhibited growth S. E. B. Sh. mutton broth, exhibited better than those ZBEO. These findings suggest preparing form improves EOs, making them suitable for food applications. • four pathogens. disrupt membrane structure bacteria. showed activity broth Preparing oils.

The present study aimed to explore the phytochemical profile, and evaluate antioxidant, antimicrobial, insecticidal properties, of Moroccan Mentha longifolia L. essential oil (ML-EO) using in vitro silico assays. Noteworthily, as chromatography (GC-MS/MS) revealed that ML-EO is majorly composed piperitenone oxide (53.43%), caryophyllene (20.02%), (-) germacrene D (16.53%). It possesses excellent antioxidant activity with an IC50 1.49 ± 0.00 for DPPH 0.051 0.06 μg/mL ABTS. Moreover, RP TAC activities were 0.80 0.01 315.532 mg EAA/g, respectively. exhibited a potent antimicrobial effect, specifically against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. also strong antifungal ability, especially Candida albicans. Regarding activity, ML-EO, dose 20 µL/mL produced complete reduction fecundity, fertility, emergence adult C. maculatus mortality rates reaching 100%. In results showed mostly attributed α-Cadinol, antibacterial efficiency oxide, capacity related cis-Muurola-4(15),5-diene oxide. Accordingly, has high potential be used alternative preserving food stored grain protecting them microbes insect pests pharmaceutical sectors.

Hypsizygus marmoreus has abundant proteins and is a potential source for the development of bioactive peptides. However, currently, research on components H. mainly focuses polysaccharides, there no relevant preparation In this article, an ultrasound-assisted extraction method was used to extract from marmoreus, then, four peptides with different molecular weight ranges were prepared through protease hydrolysis classification. The antioxidant antibacterial activities also studied. Under optimal conditions, rate 53.6%. Trypsin exhibited highest proteins. parameters enzymatic substrate concentration 3.7%, enzyme addition 5700 U/g, pH value 7, temperature 55 °C, time 3.3 h. these peptide yield 59.7%. types by grading. Among them, low (<1 kDa) had stronger activities. This study provides theoretical basis efficient products.
