Novel Ru-embedded bulk graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) photocatalysts containing different wt% of Ru (0.5–2 % wt) were synthesized by a simple mixing method ruthenium complex with g-C3N4. The photocatalytic activity the was assessed for hydrogen production in an aqueous solution methanol and without Pt. optimal rate most active photocatalyst (0.8 Ru/CN) 246 μmol/h Pt 1021 Pt, which more than two times higher pure Various physiochemical techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV–vis diffuse reflectance (UV–vis DRS), photoluminescence (PL) transition photocurrent response (PC) applied to investigate origin Rux/CN photocatalysts. Results indicated that loading g-C3N4 nanoparticles enlarged its surface area enhanced visible light absorption. Importantly, promoted charge carrier separation transfer efficiency revealed PL PC measurements, enhancing embedded photocatalyst. Furthermore, XPS proved existence (II) RuO2 metallic Ru0. showed high activity, makes them attractive materials further applications photocatalysis.
