Abstract Rumination is a perseverative thinking style that associated with adverse mental and physical health. Stressful situations have been considered as trigger for this kind of thinking. Until today, there are mixed findings respect to the relations functional connectivity (FC) rumination. The study at hand aimed investigate, in how far high low ruminators would show elevated levels state rumination after stress induction if these changes corresponding FC cognitive control network (CCN) dorsal attention (DAN). 23 22 trait underwent resting-state measurements before Trier Social Stress Test (TSST). Significance: Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) has been widely used to probe human brain function during task state and resting state. However, the existing analysis toolboxes mainly focus on activation analysis, few software packages can assist resting-state fNIRS studies. Aim: We aimed provide a versatile easy-to-use toolbox perform for both fNIRS. Approach: developed MATLAB called NIRS-KIT that works detection. Results: implements common necessary processing steps performing data including preparation, quality control, preprocessing, individual-level group-level statistics with several popular statistical models, multiple comparison correction methods, finally results visualization. Acupuncture therapy (AT) is a non-pharmacological method of treatment that has been applied to various neurological diseases. However, studies on its longitudinal effect the neural mechanisms patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) for purposes are still lacking in literature. In this clinical study, we assess effects ATs MCI using two methods: (i) Montreal Cognitive Assessment test (MoCA-K, Korean version), and (ii) hemodynamic response (HR) analyses functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). fNIRS signals working memory (WM) task were acquired from prefrontal cortex. Twelve elderly 12 healthy people recruited as target control (HC) groups, respectively. Each group went through an scanning procedure three times: The initial data obtained without any ATs, subsequently total 24 AT sessions conducted (i.e., MCI-0: prior MCI-1: after 6 weeks, MCI-2: another weeks). mean HR responses all MCI-0-2 cases lower than those HCs. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) can assess modulation of connectivity networks following repetitive transcranial stimulation (rTMS) in the treatment depression. Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) is well suited for concurrent application during rTMS sessions to capture immediate blood oxygenation (oxy-Hb) effects, however limited spatial resolution. To understand network effects behind such a prefrontal fNIRS response rTMS, and test whether signal may be predictive response, we linked data from fMRI within clinical intervention study. 42 patients with ongoing depression were recruited randomized receive active or sham intermittent theta-burst (iTBS) over dorsomedial cortex (dmPFC) twice daily ten days at target intensity.
