ABSTRACT Objective Eating disorders (ED) typically emerge in adolescence, a critical period for brain development and peer bonding. Interpersonal difficulties—particularly social anxiety—frequently co‐occur with ED. Oxytocin is neuropeptide that modulates cognition linked to prosocial effects. To date, no study has investigated oxytocin's effects on negative interpretation bias toward ambiguous information adolescents Methods Forty‐eight female aged 16 17 years without EDs took part placebo‐controlled, double‐blinded, randomised, crossover trial investigating the of 24 IU intranasal oxytocin interpretations scenarios. Participants controls were tested twice, approximately one week apart. Results Contrary hypothesis, increased overall ( p = 0.019, large effect). Adolescent females AN or BN made more than when presented information. There was group effect those who reached did not reach threshold an autism screen. Conclusions This suggests interpret negatively administration amplifies responses ambiguity adolescent females, including controls. Research tools effectively identify these biases would help widen scope ED treatments adolescents.

Abstract Objective This study aimed to investigate whether a computerized cognitive bias modification training delivered remotely would reduce expectations of rejection in adolescents with eating disorders. Method Sixty‐seven aged 12–18 (99.5% female) an disorder diagnosis (94% anorexia nervosa) and receiving specialist treatment were recruited. Participants randomized intervention condition ( n = 37) which included as usual (TAU) supplemented by nine sessions online for social stimuli (CBMT + TAU), or control 30), TAU only. invited complete assessments at baseline post‐intervention. Abstract Purpose The COVID-19 pandemic has been a psychological burden worldwide, especially for individuals with eating disorders (EDs). In addition, the healthy sisters of patients EDs are known to present specific vulnerabilities. This study evaluates differences between general population, EDs, and their sisters. Method A group 233 participants (91 57 85 community women) was enrolled in an online survey on psychopathology 1 year after beginning pandemic. examined associations posttraumatic symptoms depression, anxiety, obsessive–compulsiveness, interpersonal sensitivity, eating-related concerns. Results Clinically relevant scores were found EDs. Healthy scored similarly avoidance. Regression analysis showed sensitivity symptomatology sisters, but not women. Conclusion is clinically linked global symptom severity. Differences patients, women discussed regarding vulnerability factors Level evidence III: obtained from well-designed cohort or case–control analytic studies.
