Research has indicated that mindfulness is a protective factor against suicidal ideation. However, the dynamic reciprocal relation between them been understudied. In this study, 110 female college students with ideation completed measure of trait and 28-day diary three-dimensional state mindfulness, including acting awareness, present-moment attention, nonjudgmental acceptance. Dynamic structural equation modeling was used to examine bidirectional effects dimensions moderating effect mindfulness. Results showed predicted lower levels attention next day. More importantly, there acceptance for people higher than average level (i.e., M + 0.15SD). Our findings suggested studies interventions on suicide should pay more specific

Abstract Suicide is one of the leading causes death among individuals aged 10–24. Research using intensive longitudinal methods to identify near-term predictors suicidal thoughts and behaviors (STBs) has grown dramatically. Interpersonal factors may be particularly critical for suicide risk young people, given heightened salience interpersonal experiences during adolescence adulthood. We conducted a narrative review on studies investigating how contribute STBs adolescents adults. Thirty-two met inclusion criteria focused theoretical cross-theoretical factors. Negative states (e.g., perceived burdensomeness), hopelessness, social support were consistently associated with proximal within-person changes in concurrent, but not prospective, thoughts. Further, work examining these processes extend behavior diverse samples remains scarce. Implications contemporary theories people are discussed.

Importance Advancements in technology, including mobile-based ecological momentary assessments (EMAs) and passive sensing, have immense potential to identify short-term suicide risk. However, the extent which EMA data, particularly combination, utility detecting risk everyday life remains poorly understood. Objective To examine whether what combinations of self-reported sensor-based next-day suicidal ideation. Design, Setting, Participants In this intensive longitudinal prognostic study, participants completed EMAs 4 times daily wore a sensor wristband (Fitbit Charge 3) for 8 weeks. Multilevel machine learning methods, penalized generalized estimating equations classification regression trees (CARTs) with repeated 5-fold cross-validation, were used optimize prediction ideation based on time-varying features from (affective, cognitive, behavioral factors) data (sleep, activity, heart rate). Young adult patients who visited an emergency department recent and/or attempt recruited. Identified via electronic health record screening, eligible individuals contacted remotely complete enrollment procedures. (aged 18 25 years) 14 708 observations (64.4% adherence) approximately half time (55.6% adherence). Data collected between June 2020 July 2021. Statistical analysis was performed January March 2023. Main Outcomes Measures The outcome presence Results Among 102 enrolled participants, 83 (81.4%) female; 6 (5.9%) Asian, 5 (4.9%) Black or African American, 9 (8.8%) more than 1 race, 76 (74.5%) White; mean (SD) age 20.9 (2.1) years. best-performing model incorporated showed good predictive accuracy (mean [SE] cross-validated area under receiver operating characteristic curve [AUC], 0.84 [0.02]), whereas that alone poor AUC, 0.56 [0.02]). Sensor-based did not improve when combined EMAs. Suicidal ideation-related strongest predictors When excluded, alternative had acceptable 0.76 Both models included at different timescales reflecting within-day, end-of-day, cumulative effects. Conclusions Relevance factors identifying near-term thoughts. Best-performing required information, derived EMAs, negligible accuracy. These results may implications developing decision algorithms thoughts guide monitoring intervention delivery life.

Suicide capability is theorised to facilitate the movement from suicidal ideation suicide attempt. Three types of contributors are posited comprise capability: acquired, dispositional, and practical. Despite being critical in ideation-to-attempt, there has been no systematic synthesis empirical evidence relating that would enable further development refinement concept. This study sought address this gap. A scoping review was conducted on studies published January 2005 2022. Eleven electronic databases grey literature sources were searched returning 5,212 potential studies. After exclusion criteria application, 90 included for final analysis. Results followed a textual narrative approach allocating based capability. Most focused investigating only one factor within contributors. Painful provocative events appear contribute acquired more so than fearlessness about death. Whilst emerging dispositional practical promising, small number prevents conclusions drawn. An unexpected additional cognitive contributor identified. The focus single most limited other limits theoretical application knowledge. Given complex multifaceted behaviour, future research incorporates combination likely advance our understandings

Objective In recent years, there has been a significant increase in research using ecological momentary assessment (EMA) to explore suicidal thoughts and behaviors (STBs). Meanwhile, concerns have raised regarding the potential impacts of frequent intense STBs assessments on study participants. Methods From November 2021 June 2023, total 83 adolescent young adult outpatients (M age = 21.0, SD 6.3, 71.1% female), who were diagnosed with mood disorders, recruited from three psychiatric clinics China. Smartphone-based EMA was used measure times per day at randomly selected times. We examined change each measurement within 1 evaluate adverse effects Bayesian multilevel models. Results The 3,105 effective surveys nested participants (median follow-up days: 14 days). results two-level models indicated that decreased during monitoring period. However, this effect varied among different individuals model. Conclusion Our findings did not support notion repeated is iatrogenic, but future should continue investigate impact thoughts, taking into account individual differences utilizing larger sample sizes.
