Ti and Ti-based alloys are increasingly employed as components for various industrial applications, both structural functional. Forming coatings is one of the potentially highly effective methods to shield products from adverse environmental effects. Among numerous techniques forming on alloys, plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) stands out. Coatings produced through PEO exhibit high resistance corrosion, substantial wear, strong adhesion substrate, which attributed formation chemical bonds between underlying material coating. Conversely, may not provide sufficient protection titanium due presence porosity fine cracks. Establishing an organic film coating surface a potent strategy seal defects, thereby inhibiting intrusion corrosive elements into substrate. Applying polymer layer could be approach manage extent damage enhance corrosion. This article reviews latest developments in PEO/polymer composite investigates corrosion characteristics these coatings.

Abstract Photocatalysis is proposed as an environmentally friendly technology that exploits solar light for environmental purification. While its effect on treated effluent quality indeed positive, studies overall profitability generally disregard the fact photocatalytic materials may themselves generate pollution in their production, use, and end‐of‐life phases. This work addresses two distinct methods titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) coatings preparation, is, chemical –sol–gel, associated with spray coating– electrochemical –anodic oxidation, which generates oxide directly from a substrate. Oxides are tested decomposition of tetracycline, antibiotic commonly found water. Both distilled tap water used matrices. Coatings multiple times to simulate real operating conditions, until activity compromised. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) then quantify compare potential impacts different TiO production strategies. Eventually, assessment completed by considering full photocatalyst regeneration: while Sol–Gel this only implies cleaning re‐deposition, anodizing required detachment, subsequent re‐anodization. The process removal re‐anodizing, although invasive consuming, repeated 20 without significant loss efficiency, indicating robustness suitability transfer.
