Purpose COVID-19 disrupted the lives of consumers across globe, and retail sector has been one hardest hits. The impact on consumers' choice behaviour retailers' responses studied in detail through multiple lenses. Now that effect is abating, there a need to consolidate learnings during lifecycle set agenda for research post-COVID-19. Design/methodology/approach Scopus database was searched cull out academic papers published between March 2020 June 6, 2022, using keywords; shopping behaviour, retailing, consumer channel along with (171 journals, 357 articles). Bibliometric analysis followed by selective content conducted. Findings black swan event impacted psychology, leading reversible irreversible changes worldwide. The role of emotions in food consumption choice: Systematic review and directions for future studies DOI

Abstract Marketing researchers have extensively studied the causal influence of emotional state on food consumption. The present study offers a comprehensive systematic review 111 articles related to effect emotions unhealthy consumption over past three decades—from 1993 2023. Applying bibliometric coupling method identifies four main research themes in marketing discipline: eating: as coping mechanism, reward, emotion multidimensional structure, and moderating effects sensory cues. Theoretical richness within each cluster is presented. In addition, findings indicate that discipline has mainly relied proximate reasoning approach—explaining causation development consumers' behavior—to describe association between choices. To broaden scope theme, we adopt ultimate why behavior exists—and focus becomes pattern behavior. This concludes by discussing offering several avenues for future research.
