Despite widespread academic and practitioner interest in non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as a form of digital assets, little is known about how consumers perceive NFT value. This exploratory research investigates why people create, trade or collect NFTs, what value they derive from them, online communities contribute to co-creation. Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) represent a multibillion-dollar global market. While considerable speculation exists about the future utility of NFTs, there has been limited research into consumer behaviors market participants. This paper examines motivations NFT buyers through lens self-determination theory. Using sample 482 participants, authors tested conceptual framework to better understand both buyers' intrinsic and extrinsic motivations. study expands literature on NFTs in three different ways: i) it is first study, as far we know, focus exclusively their purchasing NFTs; ii) explores variety potential theorized literature; iii) tests expected value motivation moderator for buyers. The determined that had most substantial effect purchase intention, expectations NFTs' positively moderated amotivation intention. Purpose This study explores key factors influencing individuals' intentions to invest in NFTs, focusing on personal innovativeness, reward sensitivity, knowledge, subjective norms, perceived value and risk.
