Scientific management reimagined: an institutional entrepreneurship perspective DOI

Purpose This paper aims to examine Frederick W. Taylor’s role in institutionalising scientific management through the lens of institutional entrepreneurship. By analysing efforts disrupting existing norms and introducing new practices, this study provides insights into how his actions catalysed change broader implications for practices. Design/methodology/approach research uses a socio-historical narrative analysis integrating historical Institutional Entrepreneurship framework explore as an entrepreneur, focusing on he challenged transformed dominant practices time. Findings reveals that Taylor successfully acted entrepreneur by leveraging social status navigating field-level conditions like technological disruptions labour demands. He strategically gathered allies, mobilised resources overcame opposition from other stakeholders legitimise management.
