Frictional losses are one of the main factors affecting reliability and service life mechanical components. In this article, black phosphorus quantum dots (BPQDs) were prepared using sonication exfoliation approach investigated as aqueous solution lubrication. The BPQDs with average diameters 3.1 ± 0.6 nm evenly distributed in pure water exhibited excellent dispersion stability. Pure added at same amount each time between ball (GCr15 steel) plate (diamond-like carbon coating deposited on surface TC4 titanium alloy) to evaluate differences their tribological properties. addition resulted a 36.5% reduction coefficient friction (COF) compared water. calculated wear rates also decreased by 59.0% (10 N). initial Hertzian contact pressure ranged from 1000 1300 MPa. Additionally, superior antiwear performance BPQD principally attributable tribofilm that forms worn well its adsorption rolling effect. This work aims provide some meaningful guidelines for tribologists future study low field solid–liquid composite lubrication systems.
