Phytoene, a colorless carotenoid with unique ultraviolet (UV)–B absorption properties, offers potential for applications in functional food, cosmetics, and therapeutics. However, their low natural yield poses challenge large-scale production. This study aims to enhance phytoene production the oleaginous yeast Yarrowia lipolytica by introducing heterologous synthase gene combined metabolic engineering approaches. We enhanced synthesis overexpressing key genes mevalonate pathway compartmentalizing biosynthetic within peroxisomes. Moreover, we inhibited glyoxylate cycle increase accumulation of peroxisomal acetyl-CoA available Our engineered strains demonstrated significant production, reaching up 1.34 g/L titer 58.74 mg/gDCW flask-scale fed-batch culture, which are highest levels reported date. These results underscore Y. as robust platform producing phytoenes other terpenoids on an industrial scale, offering valuable insights future efforts engineering.

Phytochemicals help mitigate skin aging by scavenging free radicals, modulating key enzymatic pathways, and promoting the skin's structural integrity. Carotenoids, vitamins, essential fatty acids, phenolic compounds work acting as antioxidants, inhibiting enzymes like hyaluronidase, collagenase, elastase, which degrade structure, reducing levels of inflammatory markers (IL-6, IL-8, etc.) matrix metalloproteinases (MMP-1, MMP-2) linked to aging. Recent research highlights that plant-based phytochemicals can improve elasticity, reduce hyperpigmentation, prevent breakdown important proteins, support wound healing, making them valuable components for care treatments. This review explores multifaceted roles in maintaining improving health, highlighting their mechanisms action potential anti-aging innovations.

Hyaluronic-acid- and silk-fibroin-based nanofibrous mats loaded with proanthocyanidins collagen peptides were fabricated as multifunctional facial masks using electrospinning. Their morphology, hygroscopicity moisture retention, DPPH, ABTS free radical scavenging abilities, cytocompatibility investigated. The results showed that the dense uniform, an average diameter ranging from 300 to 370 nm. exhibited satisfactory oxidation resistance, biocompatibility, especially excellent capacities. DPPH activity was 90% 15 mg/L nanofibers, 0.005 nanofibers. protected fibroblasts oxidative stress damage induced by tert-butyl hydroperoxide (t-BHP) significantly promoted their proliferation. Compared traditional liquid semi-solid masks, prepared in this study contained fewer additives, which has significant advantages terms of safety. rapidly dissolved within 5 s after being sprayed water, facilitated release penetration active ingredients for skincare.
