This paper presents an empirical investigation into the effects of energy transition and digitization on carbon dioxide emissions, serving as a proxy for environmental sustainability, across 28 Chinese provinces from 2000 to 2021. Utilizing both static dynamic regression analyses, study reveals significant driving effect primarily through reduction in emissions. Notably, this influence is more pronounced eastern region China, followed by central western regions, indicating regional heterogeneity impact transition. Furthermore, found have substantial moderating effect, enhancing conservation emission reductions. As progresses, its capability diminish transitions emissions becomes apparent, particularly region, while less marked China. The also delves nonlinear relationship between discovering that increased levels can exacerbate negative These findings offer valuable insights dynamics digitalization, highlighting their crucial roles shaping sustainability

Abstract We investigate the effect of government‐initiated enterprise environmental credit ratings on firms' bank loans. While prior research indicates that companies with superior performance tend to secure more loans, it is crucial acknowledge these metrics predominantly rely voluntary corporate social responsibility or environmental, social, and governance disclosures made by firms themselves evaluated third‐party agencies. Consequently, evaluation results could be biased due incomplete information disclosure, methodologies, systems, raising concerns among scholars about potential “greenwashing” symbolic actions. In contrast, we employ a dataset comprising 27,388 observations from 2009 2021, applying propensity score matching time‐varying difference‐in‐difference model better discern relationship between their ability obtain Our findings highlight participating in can loans compared non‐participating firms. This especially pronounced regions advanced green finance development. Further analysis shows non‐state‐owned enterprises excellent good receive thus mitigating ownership bias loan distribution. Overall, our demonstrate mandatory government mitigate asymmetry enabling lenders understand information.

The planet is experiencing global warming, with an increasing number of heat waves worldwide. Cities are particularly affected by the high temperatures because urban island (UHI) effect. This phenomenon mostly explained land cover changes, reduced green spaces, and concentration infrastructure in settings. However, reasons for UHI complex involve multiple factors still understudied. Air pollution one them. work investigates link between particulate matter ≤2.5 μm (PM2.5) air temperature convergent cross-mapping (CCM), a statistical method to infer causation dynamic non-linear systems. A positive correlation fine observed. causal relationship PM2.5 confirmed most urbanized areas study site (Quito, Ecuador). results show that (i) present even elevated capital city world, (ii) quality important contributor higher than outlying areas. supports hypothesis threshold effect on temperature.
