As natural and biodegradable biopolymers, Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) were synthetized by aerobic granules sludge (AGS) in a sequential batch reactor this study. The effect of different COD concentrations on PHA accumulation nutrients removal investigated. At the same time, pretreatment methods for extraction, including NaClO EPS removing, Na2CO3 recovering, grinding to reduce particle size expand contact area, compared. results showed that yield increased more than 2 times (from 91.09 233.25 mgPHA/gCDW) when concentration from 800 1600 mg/L. PHB PHV both accounted half total, while fraction rose 71% went up can be consumed 3 faster PHV. High (1600 mg/L) had negative stability AGS structure phosphorus efficiency, system always good nitrogen with ammonium TN efficiencies >90%. dominant bacteria shifted Flavobacterium Halomona Hydrogenophaga as increased. In terms pretreatment, which was used recovery, best recovery nearly 100% purity efficiency compared pretreatments.

Nowadays, the discharge of wastewater is a global concern due to damage caused human and environmental health. Wastewater treatment has progressed provide environmentally economically sustainable technologies. The biological one fundamental bases this field, employment new technologies based on granular biofilm systems demonstrating success in tackling issues derived from wastewater. granular-conforming microorganisms must be evaluated as functional entities because their activities functions for removing pollutants are interconnected with surrounding microbiota. deep knowledge microbial communities allows improvement system operation, proliferation charge metabolic roles could modified by adjustments operational conditions. This why engineering consider intrinsic microbiological aspects obtain most effective performance. review provides an extensive view ecology biofilms mitigating water pollution.
