Groundwater conditions are crucial for understanding the evolution of soil salinization. The installation subsurface pipes significantly alters both distribution water and salt in groundwater depth; these dynamics their interrelationships warrant further investigation. To clarify relationship between changes under pipe drainage Yinchuan region Ningxia, observation wells sample monitoring points were established Pingluo County. A combined approach situ laboratory testing was employed to analyze depth salinity effects on soil. findings revealed that exhibited clear seasonal patterns. deepest at 1.97 m October shallowest 1.62 July. highest 22.28 g/L April lowest 18.24 August. In summer, shallower had lower salinity, while other seasons, it deeper with higher salinity. Soil July 4.58 g/kg over 5.5 g/kg. It decreased increasing depth, demonstrating a linear relationship. Additionally, synchronous fluctuations, exhibiting an exponential Based observations, model developed describe among Yinbei Ningxia. This validated against measured data, yielding correlation coefficient R2 0.7238. These provide reference analyzing similar regions.

The Chinese Chernozems face extreme challenges of soil degradation and crop productivity decline. Biochar-based organic fertilizer (BOF) is effectively applied to improve yield quality. Nonetheless, the mechanisms involved in enhancement interaction with root traits, quality, microorganisms after BOF application remain unclear. Herein, a two-year field experiment three rates [3.0 Mg ha−1 (BOF3), 6.0 (BOF6), 9.0 (BOF9)] was conducted evaluate impact on microorganisms, no as control treatment (CK). Compared CK, increased maize by 9.1 ∼ 32.0 % second year application, highest (16.1 ha−1) obtained BOF6. plant growth index 29.7 98.9 %, mainly attributed increase volume (2.4 57.4 %), aboveground biomass (31.4 44.0 nitrogen (N) uptake (123.2 216.0 %). quality not only topsoil (27.7 31.1 %) but also subsoil (22.7 25.1 BOF, particularly two (BOF6 BOF9). This ascribed notable microbial carbon, total N, NH4+-N, N-acquiring enzyme activity (normalized leucine aminopeptidase alkaline phosphatase). Moreover, abundance Actinobacteria, Mortierellomycota at 0–40 cm, Chloroflexi 0–20 Acidobacteriota, Ascomycota 20–40 which confirmed their key roles activating nutrient subsequent enhancing stimulating growth. Overall, biochar-based rate promising regime enhance regulating keystone taxa, thereby boosting Chernozem soil.

A straw interlayer added to soil can effectively reduce salinity effects on plant growth, however, the of moisture, salt and microbial community composition growth under a are unclear. rhizobox study was conducted investigate role thickness migration, composition, as well root in sunflower. The included four treatments: Control (no interlayer); S3 (straw 3.0 cm); S5 5.0 S7 7.0 cm). Straw treatments increased moisture by 8.2%-11.0% after irrigation decreased content bud stage 0-40 cm soil. Total length, total surface area, average diameter, volume number tips sunflower plants were higher than control, highest treatment. This stimulated ascribed abundance Chloroflexi Verrucomicrobia bacteria with interlayer, which 55.7 54.7%, respectively, Addition 5 is practical environmentally feasible approach for improving saline-alkali

The effects long-term straw incorporation different irrigation regimes on yield paddy fields in cold regions remain unclear. This study established four treatments: controlled + continuous for 3 years (C3), 7 (C7), flooded (F3), (F7). Analysis was conducted impact various physicochemical characteristics soil. index (SQI) rice computed using separate datasets each treatment. nitrate nitrogen, available phosphorus, organic carbon, matter contents C7 were 93.51%, 5.80%, 8.90%, 8.26% higher compared C3, respectively. Thirty-three properties, including eighteen physiochemical-related fifteen biological-related associated functions were measured potential indicators, multifunctionality (SMF) applied validate indices (SQIs). Principal component analysis relationship used indicators sensitive management a minimum data set (MDS). results showed that electrical conductivity, large macroaggregate-associated total nitrogen, small carbon, carbon fixation, enzyme activities phenol oxidase cellulase chosen MDS. Soil salinization is one of the main reasons for soil degradation, which limiting improvement productivity. To evaluate response plant height, stem diameter, biomass and nutrient uptake maize, properties to various salt stress oxygen supply rates, a culture experiment with two factors were carried out: different degrees (A0, 0 g L−1 NaCl irrigation; A3, 3 A6, 6 A9, 9 irrigation;) rhizosphere (B0, ml H2O2 solution; B0.5, 0.5 B1, 1 B1.5, 1.5 solution). The results showed that aboveground root maize under reduced by 6.8–9.8%, 4.4–9.8%, 18.4–45.5% 21.4–35.8% at end compared A0, respectively. Meanwhile, declined, especially high degree, but sodium (Na+) was increased significantly. Rhizosphere enhanced 2.0–6.5%, 4.1–6.1%, 27.5–56.6% 19.5–47.1% B0, restriction absorption caused could be alleviated. quality indicators influenced management as well. Overall, alleviate on growth seedling stage, improve chemical water use efficiency.
