This study aims to assess the level of metal contamination and ecological risk index at abandoned Zaida Pb/Zn mining site in eastern Morocco identify native plant species found on that can be used rehabilitation through phytoremediation strategies. Samples from seven abundant site, along with their rhizospheric soils, were collected analyzed using Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) determine concentrations various metal(loid)s, including As, Cu, Ni, Cd, Sb, Zn, Pb. Indicators soil pollution risks also assessed, enrichment factor (EF), (PI), (ERI). The Biological Accumulation Coefficient (BAC), Translocation Factor (TF), Concentration (BCF) samples calculated. results reveal polymetallic contamination, notably higher Pb, Cu reaching respectively 5568 mg kg−1 DW, 152 kg− 1 148 indicating a significant potential risk. (EF) was assessed for each indicated anthropogenic origin linked intensive activities Zaida. These findings are supported by (PI) ranging 1.6 10.01, which reveals an extremely high metal(loid)s level. None exhibited hyperaccumulation metal(loid)s. However, Artemisia herba alba demonstrated strong capacity accumulate Pb its aboveground parts, concentration 468 DW. Stipa tenacissima , Retama spherocarpa Astragalus armatus showed accumulation roots 280, 260, 256 DW.respectively. Based BAC, TF, BCF, Ni Cd phytostabilization, as well ability Zn phytoextraction. Additionally, displayed capability phytoextract had propensity translocate all studied has phytostabilization phytoextraction As Sb. although not hyperaccumulators, have contribute significantly or potentially toxic elements (PTEs). Moreover, they serve vegetative cover mitigate erosion dispersion

The water-level-fluctuation zone of a reservoir is an important connection between land and water; due to counter-seasonal rhythmic water level changes, this area more sensitive vulnerable, whereas the assessment management heavy metal pollution are still elusive. This study selected in hinterland Three Gorges Reservoir. Through quadrats investigation, soil status seven metals composition herbaceous plants were identified, potential dominant species for phytoremediation was assessed. results showed that overall at alert (PN = 0.97) low ecological risk (RI 123.12). And primarily contaminated by mixed source traffic, agriculture, industry. A total 17 calculated using importance values. Most had better Cd Cu. None hyperaccumulators, but they could play role their high adaptability specific environments. have guiding significance remediation global areas, further promoting security sustainable development.
