Abstract Despite continued advances in prevention and treatment strategies, cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remain the leading cause of death worldwide, more effective therapeutic methods are urgently needed. Polygonatum is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine with variety pharmacological applications biological activities, such as antioxidant activity, anti-inflammation, antibacterial effect, immune-enhancing glucose regulation, lipid-lowering anti-atherosclerotic effects, diabetes anticancer effect. There has also been evidence to support cardioprotective effect recent years. However, up now, there lack comprehensive studies on active ingredients their pharmacotoxicological effects related diseases. Therefore, main components (including Polysaccharides, Flavonoids, Saponins) activities were firstly reviewed this paper. Furthermore, we summarized ’s preventing treating CVDs, its relevant toxicological investigations. Finally, emphasize potential CVDs.

Abstract Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua is a traditional Chinese medicinal plant acclaimed for its therapeutic potential in diabetes and various chronic diseases. Its rhizomes are the main functional parts rich secondary metabolites, such as flavonoids saponins. But their quality varies by region, posing challenges industrial application of P. . In this study, 482 metabolites were identified rhizome from Qingyuan Xiushui counties. Cluster analysis showed that samples between these two regions had distinct metabolite profiles. Machine learning methods, specifically support vector machine-recursive feature elimination random forest, utilized to further identify markers including flavonoids, phenolic acids, lignans. Comparative transcriptomics weighted gene co-expression performed uncover candidate genes CHI , UGT1 PcOMT10/11/12/13 associated with compounds. Functional assays using tobacco transient expression system revealed indeed impacted metabolic fluxes phenylpropanoid pathway phenylpropanoid-related chrysoeriol-6,8-di-C-glucoside, syringaresinol-4'-O-glucopyranosid, 1-O-Sinapoyl-D-glucose. These findings provided valuable genetic insights engineering biosynthesis

Polygonati rhizoma (known as Huangjing in Chinese), an edible medicinal herb with homology of medicine and food, was also commonly used food additives Asian countries to provide many health benefits. Currently, the amelioration fatigue induced by excessive exercise has become a concern. In present study, we studied anti-fatigue effect P. polysaccharides (PRP) explored its potential mechanism gut flora regulation. The molecular weight, monosaccharide composition, morphology, FT-IR analysis PRP were performed. Following intragastric administration PRP, exhaustive swimming model mice demonstrated increased time, creatine kinase malondialdehyde level, decreased lactic acid blood urine nitrogen levels. Furthermore, abundance Akkermansia, Lactobacillus, Faecalibacterium remarkably enhanced, while Streptococcus Bacteroides decreased, compared group. summary, our findings offer compelling evidence supporting beneficial effects on exercise-induced fatigue.
