Diet can be considered as one of the pivotal factors in regulating gastrointestinal health, and polyphenols widely distributed human daily diet. The their metabolites playing a series beneficial effects tract that regulate gut microbiota, increase intestinal barrier function, repair mucosa, reduce oxidative stress, inhibit secretion inflammatory immune absorption biotransformation mainly depend on activity microflora. However, little is known about two-way interaction between microbiota. objective this review to highlight structure optimization effect flavonoids flora, discusses mechanisms dietary flora. multiple single molecule flavonoids, inter-dependence microbiota polyphenol metabolites. Moreover, protective plant macromolecules health. This provided valuable insight may useful for better understanding mechanism health polyphenols, provide scientific basis application functional food.

Abstract Walnut green husk (WGH) is rich in natural compounds and valued as a potential source of antioxidant antimicrobial properties. In this study, the activities petroleum ether polar fraction, dichloromethane ethyl acetate fraction (EAPF), n ‐butanol from WGH were analyzed. The results showed that EAPF exhibited highest total flavonoid content (65.74 ± 1.01 mg rutin equivalents [RE]/g dry weight [DW]) phenol (48.73 1.09 gallic acid equivalent [GAE]/g DW), with 2,2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl, hydroxyl radical (•OH), 2,2‐azino‐bis‐3‐ethylbenzothiazoline‐6‐sulfonate scavenging activity compared other fractions. also good antibacterial against Escherichia coli Bacillus cereus vegetative cells, diameter inhibition zones 33.5 37.6 mm, respectively, minimum inhibitory concentration 31.25 mg/ml bactericidal 62.5 mg/ml, which inhibited growth both bacteria. Analysis mechanism demonstrated damaged integrity cell membrane, increased membrane permeability, triggered leakage intracellular material. addition, ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography‐tandem mass spectrometry analysis revealed 8 polyphenols 14 flavonoids mainly present EAPF, such chlorogenic (C 16 H 18 O 9 ), 7 6 5 vanillic 4 ferulic 10 epicatechin 15 catechin hesperetin naringenin 12 hyperin 21 20 luteolin (C1 so on. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of walnut green husk extract (WGHe) on growth performance, meat quality, antioxidative status, gut morphology, and microbiota diversity broilers. A total 216 one-day-old broilers were divided into 4 groups, each consisting 9 replicates (6 birds per replicate) as follows: 1) control group, basal diet; 2) antibiotic diet supplemented with enduracidin colistin sulfate; 3) low-dose 5.0 g/kg WGHe; 4) high-dose 10.0 WGHe. The results revealed that percentage abdominal fat decreased, ratio duodenal villus length crypt depth (V/C), well α-diversity ileal microbiota, increased WGHe supplementation (P < 0.05). shear force breast muscle plasma malondialdehyde (MDA) concentration whereas peroxidase (POD) activity, Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC), jejunal in response Compared diet, addition resulted a significant increase relative abundances Candidatus Arthromitus, Eubacterium coprostanoligenes, Ruminococcaceae UCG-014 0.01). Furthermore, Arthromitus Lachnoclostridium, abundance unidentified Chloroplast decreased In conclusion, dietary is advantageous for intestinal health, status broilers, suggesting its potential functional additive poultry production.
