Essential oils (EOs) are complex mixtures of volatile compounds, primarily terpenoids and phenolic constituents, derived from plants. They have been widely studied for their diverse biological activities, including antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, anticancer, anti-inflammatory effects, among others. These bioactivities attributed to the unique chemical composition EOs, which enables multi-targeted modes action such as disruption microbial cell membranes, inhibition spore germination, modulation inflammatory pathways. Their potential alternatives conventional antimicrobial therapies has gained attention, particularly in addressing resistance. Additionally, EOs exhibit significant antioxidant properties, contributing food preservation by preventing spoilage extending shelf life. In agriculture, roles pest management plant growth regulation highlight sustainable applications. conclusion, present a promising avenue applications healthcare, preservation, though further research is necessary overcome challenges related variability clinical validation.

Essential oils (EO) are compounds synthesized by plants as secondary products and a complex mixture of volatile molecules. Studies have demonstrated their pharmacological activity in the prevention treatment metabolic syndrome (MetS). Moreover, they been used antimicrobial antioxidant food additives. The first part this review discusses role EO nutraceuticals to prevent syndrome-related disorders (i.e., obesity, diabetes, neurodegenerative diseases), showing results from vitro vivo studies. Likewise, second describes bioavailability mechanisms action preventing chronic diseases. third presents application additives, pointing out formulations. Finally, last explains stability methods for encapsulating EO. In conclusion, dual additives makes them excellent candidates formulate dietary supplements functional foods. However, further investigation is needed understand interaction with human pathways develop novel technological approaches enhance systems scale up these processes and, way, overcome current health problems.
