Purposely prepared magnetic nanocomposite beads were investigated as catalysts for the degradation of Novacron blue (NB) dye (a reactive azo widely used in textile industries) by Fenton and photo-Fenton processes. Specifically, Fe3O4 nanoparticles natural iron ore (NIO) incorporated into sodium calcium alginate material to form Fe3O4-NIO using an inexpensive protocol. While Fe3O4/calcium might be a good catalyst processes, adding NIO could beneficial enhance stability beads. The as-prepared was characterized several techniques such Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunauer, Emmett Teller (BET) Barret-Joyner-Halender (BJH), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission (TEM), energy dispersive (EDX) UV–vis diffuse reflectance analyses. Such characterizations showed that (photo)catalyst successfully synthesized, well its porous nature with specific surface area 26 m2/g. Magnetic adsorptive properties removing 22 % NB under optimum conditions (pH 2, [NB]0 = 40 mg/L, 0.2 g dose beads). This proved great photocatalytic behavior according optical contributed 80 after 120 min treatment compared only 50 process. cheap, eco-friendly, non-toxic, magnetically separable stable reused six subsequent tests. All these advantages show potential heterogeneous wastewater applications making it worthy further investigation more realistic conditions.
