Owing to their low cost, high plasticity, and corrosion resistance, plastic products are widely used across various industries. However, these can break down into microplastics (MPs) through several processes, including natural weathering, mechanical wear tear, industrial activities, such as fine powder production, other human-induced processes. MPs contaminate the environment pose a significant threat human health safety. Additionally, be horizontally vertically distributed within soil environment. interact with cadmium (Cd) in Cd-contaminated soils, thereby forming co-exposed stress risks. Considering widespread distribution of Cd soil, this article reviews interactions ecological effects combined literature visualization analysis. The systematic review shows that MP–Cd pollution significantly alter physico-chemical properties thus influencing individual contaminants (Cd or MPs) modifying microbial community. migration contribute oxidative on animals plants, potential implications for aboveground food chain. This paper aims identify future research directions priorities addressing provide scientific guidance remediation management MP-Cd joint exposure site environments.

Dark septate endophytes (DSE) may facilitate plant growth and stress tolerance in stressful ecosystems. However, little is known about the response of medicinal plants to DSE, especially under heavy metal stress. This study aimed investigate how DSE affects Dendranthema morifolium cadmium (Cd) In this investigation, sterile non-sterile inoculations were carried out evaluate effect three strains on D. stressed with Cd. For root, DSE15 or inoculation resulted enhanced root biomass, volume, Cd content roots, indoleacetic acid (IAA) levels DSE7 significantly roots at 1 5 mg Cd/kg soil. Regarding impact stems leaves, conditions, effectively regulated shoot height, chlorophyll level, superoxide dismutase (SOD) content. Under positively influenced biomass while had no significant them when subjected effects flowers increased flower stress, reduced transfer coefficient Importantly, soil, promoted 1, 5-dicaffeoylquinic by 18.29% 21.70%. The interaction between soil factors revealed that species organic carbon available nitrogen content, These results contribute a better understanding DSE-plant interactions habitats contaminated metals demonstrate potential utility for cultivating plants.

The molecular mechanism of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in reducing cadmium (Cd) accumulation plants remains unclear. In this respect, the effects Rhizophagus intraradices (Ri) inoculation under Cd stress on rice growth, uptake along with other elements, and expression transport genes, including OsNRAMP1/5, were studied using wild-type (WT) osnramp5 mutant rice. results showed that Ri did not affect growth. was much lower than WT, as 27.6%, 17.5%, 39.9% noted grains, shoots, roots, respectively. For alone significantly promoted OsNRAMP5 but suppressed reduced its grain shoot by 44.4% 62.3%, respectively, compared to treatment. contrast, for mutant, influence or Cd. Furthermore, transporters (OsIRT1, OsZIP3/7, OsCAX1a) both varieties changed treatments. conclusion, inoculating rice, negative regulation gene.

The simultaneous presence of microplastics (MPs) and heavy metals in soil may result heightened toxicity, causing more significant adverse effects on plant growth. Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) have demonstrated capacities alleviating the toxic stress caused by combined pollution other contaminants. However, research impacts processes PGPR induced from MPs is still insufficient. This study involved a pot experiment to evaluate ability mitigate polypropylene microplastic (PP MPs) particles different sizes (6.5 μm 830 μm) metal cadmium (Cd) bioenergy hybrid Pennisetum. Moreover, metagenomic analysis was used examine rhizospheric microbial community function. cocontamination PP Cd affected growth Pennisetum differently depending size particles, with aboveground underground lengths 6.5 + experimental group being smaller than those group. PGPRs ( Bacillus sp. Y-35, Y-62, Y-S, Enterobacter Y-V) successfully alleviated Cd, resulting increases 8.24 42.21% height dry weight, respectively. studies indicated that along inoculation, altered composition bacterial community, leading changes diversity indices dominant groups such as Pseudomonadota, Actinomycetota, Acidobacteriota. functional revealed main glucose metabolism, energy signal transduction, nucleotide metabolism. particle significantly functions pentose phosphate pathway, benzoate degradation, amide biosynthesis. provides essential data scientific evidence ecotoxicological contamination metals, well insights into potential bioremediation methods.

Abstract In this work, MgAl‐NO3‐LDH was prepared by co‐precipitation method, and the alanine intercalation of MgAl‐Ala‐LDH roasting recovery method. The structure, morphology pore size materials were systematically characterized XRD, SEM, TEM, BET, XPS, TG‐DTG FTIR. (003) diffraction peak shifted from 11.29° to 6.17° interlayer spacing d(003) expanded 0.79 nm 1.33 nm, indicating that successfully inserted into hydrotalcite interlayer. effects solution pH, initial concentration Cd2+, time, temperature quality adsorbent on Cd2+ adsorption performance studied. results indicate when pH value CdCl2 is 5–6 45℃, capacity are 39.7 mg/g 135.5 mg/g, respectively. data conforms pseudo‐second‐order kinetic Langmuir model, process monolayer controlled chemisorption. Thermodynamic investigations indicated higher temperatures facilitated strengthened affinity with MgAl‐Ala‐LDH. mechanisms mainly include surface complexation, chelation isomorphic substitution. may have a good application prospect in removal heavy metal ions.
