Release of formaldehyde gas indoors is a serious threat to human health. The traditional adsorption method not stable enough for removal. Photocatalytic degradation effective and rapid, but photocatalysts are generally expensive easy recycle. In this paper, geopolymer microspheres were applied as matrix materials loading degrade formaldehyde. Geopolymer prepared from red mud granulated blast furnace slag raw by alkali activation. When the doping was 50%, concentration NaOH solution 6 mol/L, additive amount 30 mL, possessed good morphological characteristics large specific surface area 38.80 m2/g. With BiOX (X = Cl, Br, I) on microspheres, 85.71% adsorbed within 60 min. rate loaded with BiOI reached 87.46% 180 min, which 23.07% higher than that BiOBr, 50.50% BiOCl.
