Near-infrared phosphor-converted light-emitting diodes (NIR pc-LEDs), as a new generation of NIR lighting sources, have wide prospects in the areas food analysis and biological night vision imaging. Nevertheless, phosphors are still limited by short-wave narrowband emissions well low efficiency. Herein, series phosphors, LuCa2ScZrGa2GeO12:Cr3+ (LCSZGG:Cr3+), with broadband been developed first reported. At 456 nm excitation, optimized LCSZGG:0.005Cr3+ phosphor represents an ultra-broadband emission within range 650–1100 nm, peaking near 815 full width at half maximum 166 nm. Furthermore, possesses good internal quantum efficiency 68.75%, its integrated intensity 423 K retains about 64.17% that room temperature. By combining sample blue chip, pc-LED device is fabricated, which has excellent output power 37.88 mW photoelectric conversion 12.44% under 100 mA driving current. The aforementioned results demonstrate these LCSZGG:Cr3+ expected light sources.

Abstract Technological progress has promoted the development of ultra‐wide near‐infrared (NIR) luminescent materials as a new NIR light source. The emission in Na(Al,Ga) 11 O 17 :xCr 3+ (NAGO:xCr ) phosphors is achieved by constructing unique Cr ‐Cr ion pair confined structure. pairs can be observed at low concentration ions(x = 0.04), increase Ga would promote formation pairs, thereby effectively enhancing energy migration process from high‐energy ions to low‐energy ones. Herein, full width half maximum finely adjusted wide range 223 nm, while peaks shift 704 860 nm. NAGO:xCr exhibits longest‐wavelength known ‐doped galliates and aluminates phosphors. study further reveals inherent mechanism affect on photoluminescence properties for pairs. quantum efficiency optimal NaAl :0.004Cr (sharp emission) NaGa :0.02Cr (ultra‐wide samples reaches 87.6% 46.6% with high thermal stability (84.47% 67.52%@150 °C), respectively. comprehensive are excellent among similar property. Multifunctional applications agricultural production, quality inspection, imaging fields also demonstrated.
